Production Team Leader, 2Nd Shift

Production Team Leader, 2nd shift Rayconnect, Rochester Hills, MI SUMMARY: While displaying the company’s core values and under the direction of the Production Manager, and through managing and overseeing their assigned shift’s personnel, the Production Team Leader is responsible for the day to day operation of the shift including the achievement of Molding and Assembly department’s goals for safety, quality (scrap), efficiency or TOEE and other requirements while working safely and ensuring an environment of trust within the Production department. Develop and implement policies and procedures for Molding and Assembly department to align with Company policies, procedures, and goals. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: • Develop and improve the team’s performance through leadership and promotion of the Company core values, rules and regulations. • Participating in the Tier 1 (1 half hour prior to the start and end of their shift to pass on and discuss any safety, quality or efficiency concerns from the last 24 hours. • Holding a daily Tier 2 meeting at the start of the shift to pass on and discuss any safety, quality or efficiency concerns from the last 24 hours. • 1st Shift Production Team Leader to participate Tier 3 meeting and escalates issues and concerns related to safety, quality and production efficiency that cannot be solved at the shift level to Production Manager and/ or department support staff. • Maintaining the integrity of the department’s processes and procedures by auditing a process or procedure on a weekly basis and correcting any non-conforming behavior by retraining the process or procedure. • Developing and monitoring of a training plan / event for employees in accordance with the shift and departments needs and training requirements and validation in MQ1. Reference in MQ1 • Own documents in MQ1 and have the ability to approve and revise. • Provides input for employee hiring and performance reviews in support of the Production Manager. • Build, develop and maintain a good working environment in and outside of the department • Assists Production Manager with employee discipline process as necessary. • Approve and coordinate Paid Time Off for shift members and approve shift timecards. • Leads, encourages and promotes ATOM’s in the work environment. • Assists with inventory when necessary. • Effectively works as an individual contributor as well as a team member. • With support from Production Manager insure accident reports are completed as necessary to comply with OSHA requirements • Has authority to stop the process if nonconforming or suspect material is found to ensure it does not reach the customer. • Responsible for 5S for assigned shift including safety and continuous improvement. • Second and third shift Production Team Leaders are the company representatives at the facility and are responsible for the machinery and other property of Rayconnect, Inc. • Second and third shift Production Team Leaders are the to go person during off shift operation and ensure health and safety being follow throughout all departments that operate on off shift. (This including Molding, Assembly, Logistic, Tooling and Quality) • Ability to work overtime, as required. • Reports concerns to Production Manager and provides follow up. • Complete employee’s annual appraisal review. • Other duties as assigned. REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE • High school diploma or equivalent. • 3-5 years experience in leadership/supervision ▪ Knowledge of 5-S Philosophy ▪ Proven ability in teambuilding and leadership. ▪ Demonstrated ability to manage department to meet production goals. ▪ Demonstrated problem solving techniques. ▪ Good oral and written communication skills. ▪ Good computer skills: Excel, Word, Email, PowerPoint, etc. ▪ Disciplined and self-motivated with the ability to work independently. ▪ Accurate recordkeeping and attention to detail. • RJG Training desired. • Molding Injection and Assembly machine function experience preferred. • Some college coursework preferred. • Knowledge of 5S philosophy desired. • Familiarity with electronic document management systems preferred. • Familiarity with inventory systems is desired.
