Production Supervisor
OVERVIEW
The Production Supervisor works under the direction of the Vocational Services Director supervising, coordinating, and/or assessing consumers skills in various jobs. The Production Supervisor implements vocational goals and outcomes for the individuals in the Vocational Day Program. The Production Supervisor works closely with the individual to foster growth and development in all aspects of the Vocational Day Program. The Chesapeake Bay Industries, Inc. program is designed to ensure that all the individuals’ capabilities and functioning abilities are maintained, and that staff only provides the necessary level of assistance to maintain each individual level of independence in all areas of their lives.
JOB SUMMARY
The Production Supervisor is responsible for supervising production cloths to adhere to Military Specification (MIL-DTL-24671C). The Production Supervisor provides supervision in the commercial sewing operation, machine repair, small assembly contracts and evidence of the individual’s interest in a capacity to work with people with various disabilities. In addition, the Production Supervisor is responsible for handling tasks which may involve exposure to visible blood contamination or reasonable anticipated blood contamination in compliance with OSHA’s Bloodborne Pathogen Standard and Chesapeake Bay Industries Exposure Control Plan for Bloodborne Pathogens.
PHYSCIAL REQUIRMENTS
This job requires good physical and mental health. Physical activities may include lifting rotating, and Assisting individuals who are partially or totally dependent for moving about. Other physical requirements of the Production Supervisor lifting, carrying production, stooping, bending, standing and walking most of an eight-hour shift. The Production Supervisor must be willing and able to work a flexible shift.
QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION
The Production Supervisor must have the ability to communicate ideas verbally and in writing and must show sound judgment and sensitivity when dealing with the needs of the developmentally disabled adult. The Production Supervisor must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within the interdisciplinary team. The Production Supervisor must present a positive role model in appearance and actions to work and must be dependable and reliable.
JOB DUTIES:
1. Oversee production of sewing department.
2. Oversee direct labor performance (Sewers).
3. Monitor and visual inspection and quality of all fabric before cutting.
4. Direct cutting of fabric to contract specifications.
5. Assemble cloth samples and sewn samples for laboratory testing.
6. Assess need for commercial sewers and oversee performance of sewers.
7. Keep production total on all sellable work per sewer daily.
8. Maintain safe work area, enforce safety regulations, and report all accidents/injuries.
9. Alert Director or designee of needed sewing supplies.
10. Ensure flow of product as cloth is delivered to cutting table, sizes cut and stacked for sewing, sewing completed, and delivered to cutting/trimming areas.
11. Sew contract work as time permits.
12. Responsible for contract compliance as it related to dimension/size of cloths, sewing, and attached lanyards.
13. Meet with small assembly contacts with Vocational Services Director to discuss possible contract work.
14. Initial set-up of job with supervisor.
15. Act as a liaison between Vocational Services Director and supervisor for small assembly questions.
16. Conduct Quality Control of jobs to ensure job is meeting customer specifications.
17. Assist Vocational Services Director to implement inventory system via computer to track purchases, shipping, and warehouse inventory.
18. Assist Vocational Services Director with implementation of Small Assembly Manual – to include a master manual & three copies for supervisor usage.
19. Communicate all problems/concerns with contract compliance to Director immediately.
20. Determine requirements for assigned jobs and effectively direct individuals on job assignments, job performance, production totals, time studies, etc.
21. Responsible for timecard documentation for assigned individuals.
22. Documentation of incidents or special occurrences within 24 hours.
23. Observe consumers; rights including, but not limited to, privacy, dignity, etc., when rendering care to individuals as required by Chesapeake Bay Industries policies and procedures, current standards of care and practice and applicable state/federal regulations.
24. Function as a member of the Interdisciplinary Team using ethical conduct as a representative of the agency.
25. Communicate in a professional manner with co-workers, families, and outside agencies. Provide input to other team members concerning individuals’ needs.
26. Perform other duties and functions as assigned by the Vocational Services Director.

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
