Job Purpose
The Production Supervisors primary responsibilities will be to assist facility management & coordinate plant production / operations while ensuring profitability of operations & compliance with all labor, safety, environmental & company policies & regulations. Position is based in an industrial shredder/recycling yard.

Key Job Elements
•Assist in plant operations for production, maintenance, safety, quality, scale, shipping and receiving and other office procedures;
•Daily requirements include analyzing trends to predict and manage production outcomes; maximizing equipment uptime, inventory controls, recruitment and retention of staff and maintaining close interaction with the maintenance department and management team;
•Effectively lead the workforce in safe work practices and facilitate the overall zero harm, positive safety culture of the plant to ensure compliance with the plant safety program;
•Coordinate plant activities through the planning with the management team to ensure the total production goals and objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost-effective manner;
•Assist with establishing and monitoring overall plant performance for production and quality standards, consistently meeting production goals of yields, up time and quality;
•Oversee the initiation, training and auditing of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs);
•Ensure processing, storage and shipping of product is done in compliance with internal controls and SOPs;
•Assist with controlling and minimizing labor costs, operating expenditures and repair expenses;
•Responsible for establishing all shift production schedules; control and monitor staffing needs and manage overtime;
•Ensure that all production employees receive appropriate training on job duties, policies and procedures;
•Ultimately responsible for performance management of all employees. This will include establishing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), goal setting and performance reviews, disciplinary action, career development, training and succession planning;
•Develop direct reports through teamwork, coaching and communication and provide leadership and training to accomplish the company goals and objectives;
•Maintain existing plant facilities and equipment; replace or make adjustments to plant facilities and equipment when necessary.
Qualifications and Experience
•Previous experience/strong understanding of budgeting/expense management with a basic understanding of financial & accounting practices;
•Previous experience/best practices implementing & using continuous improvement/lean tools such as; Six Sigma, 5-S, Lean Manufacturing, etc. to drive improvement;
•Previous experience/broad understanding of safety systems & enforcement of safety policies;
•A strong ability to be adaptable & flexible;
•Strong analytical & decision-making skills with a High regard for business ethics;
•Highly motivated, results oriented, driven & able to work within precise limits & standards;
•Mechanical aptitude & ability;
•Auditing & investigation skills;
•Time management skills & detail oriented;
•Ability to work with a team & independently;
•Computer literate with good organizational skills;
•Experience implementing continuous improvement initiatives & realizing results;
•Lean/continuous improvement experience required, especially centered around daily management processes;
•Proven leadership experience in motivating, developing & coaching people, building cohesive leadership teams, setting goals & tactics to achieve plans;
•Experience building relationships, communication & trust across all levels.
•Strength - Must be able to lift and carry up to 50lbs, push and pull up to 75lb;
•Motion - Frequent standing and setting. Sustained bending, crouching, stopping, kneeing, squatting and overhead reaching;
•Vision/Hearing Requirements - Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions and hear audible alarms;
•Work Environment - Works on varied surfaces, concrete floors, hard pack or gravel. Non-temperature control environment, all weather conditions with potential of high noise and high dust;
•Emotional Demands - Due to the working environment, noise, dust, personal protective equipment, employee must be comfortable working alone;
•Safety - Safety Sensitive positions because it works with heavy equipment and other moving equipment. Employee must abide by all safety protocols, health/medical screenings and utilize all required PPE. Included but not limited to metatarsal boots, safety glasses, gloves, respirators, aprons, ear protection, etc.
