Job description

Responsible for overseeing production employees in their performance for day and night shift. Managing proper maintenance of department.  Communicating with maintenance on equipment issues and insuring the production process is flowing smoothly to meet the Company’s goals and customer satisfaction.


  • Accomplish results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Manage employee’s daily activities to insure production efficiencies and minimal overtime. Maximize production personnel capabilities and implement procedures to improve efficiency.
  • Conduct annual performance reviews and regular performance feedback to employees and manager.  Complete verbal and written counseling as needed.
  • Maintain work flow by monitoring steps of the process; setting processing variables; observing control points and equipment; monitoring personnel and resources; studying methods; implementing cost reductions; developing reporting procedures and systems; facilitating corrections to malfunctions within process control points; initiating and fostering a spirit of cooperation within and between departments.
  • Complete production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel; accomplishing work results; establishing priorities; monitoring progress; revising schedules; resolving problems; reporting results of the processing flow on shift production summaries and adjusting employee work assignments when necessary
  • Maintain quality standards by establishing and enforcing company policies, procedures and work instructions.
  • Ensure operation of equipment by calling for repairs; evaluating new equipment and techniques.
  • Schedule and execute department led maintenance activities to maximize uptime around required production.
  • Provide manufacturing information by compiling, initiating, sorting, and analyzing production performance records and data; answering questions and responding to requests.
  • Maintain safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Resolve personnel problems; investigating issues; identifying solutions and recommending action.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending company directed classes or training.
  • Build a culture of ownership and improvement within the department.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Minimum High school diploma or GED
  • Associate or Bachelors’ degree preferred
  • Lean manufacturing knowledge and experience a plus
  • 6 years direct supervisory or coordination experience in working in or leading a production or manufacturing team.
  • Proven facilitation and leadership skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and motivate.
  • Demonstrated positive attitude, initiative, open-minded; interaction skills and work well under pressure.
  • Ability to interact in an effective manner with all levels of the organization.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills; computer and organizational skills
  • Ability to read and follow wire harnes assembly instructions
  • Knowledge of the powder paint process and brazing/ shell fabrication operations and associated testing.
  • Excellent troubleshooting ability on hydraulics, pneumatics, and basic robotics.
  • Utilize electrical assembly hand tools
  • Ability to troubleshoot minor electrical issues is a plus
  • Proficient in the Microsoft office suite including Microsoft Word and Excel
  • ISO 9000, ISO 14001 and OHSAS training preferred.
  • Possess a continuous improvement attitude proven through work history. 
  • Excellent evaluation, and attendance history and no warning in past 12 months 

 

SUMMARY OF WORKING CONDITIONS

 

This position may involve potential exposure to hazardous materials, and environmental changes (heat/cold), and the employee must be able to work under stress occasioned by production requirements, personnel, and the needs of other departments, utilizing proper body mechanics.

                                                                                                                                              

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

 

The physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job Ability to handle mental stress/pressure.  Ability to work long hours in emergency situations, overtime or alternate shifts.  Ability to effectively communicate on radio; and hear over equipment noise. Able to sit, walk and/or stand for extended time.
