Production Planner/Scheduler

Our client, located in Marion, WI is a technological leader in the manufacturing industry! They are seeking a key member of their professional/technical team - a Production Planner/Scheduler. They take pride in using precise technical processes to make high quality wood veneer, bat billets, machine parts, and airboats while providing "bend-over-backward" customer service. This position is responsible for setting up, monitoring, and maintaining the master production schedule for all work centers to ensure production plans and deadlines are achieved. This individual will analyze work center loading for effective capacity planning to ensure that inventory builds, and shipment schedules are met. The position works out of their operations offices in Marion, WI, and reports to the Director of Manufacturing, who leads their Executive Team.
Requirements
Responsibilities:
• Create and maintain the production schedule and prioritize work orders for cutting, drying, finishing, and flat plywood for production optimization.
• Lead weekly Plant Production Meeting for all departments including Veneer, Flat, Billets, & Machine Shop
• Work with Production Supervisors to lead the creation of daily work center production schedules
• Create specification sheets and load them into the Product Master
• Provide direction to the Log Yard Supervisor, so appropriate logs are loaded to meet productions demands
• Communicate with Log Buyers to provide adequate material supply to meet forecasted production demands
• Update the log cooker inventory on a monthly basis
• Follow-up as necessary with all teams to expedite materials flow and documents to meet customer expectations
• Maintain and review shipping lists targeting customer promise delivery dates
• Communicate with customer service on status of sales orders and estimated completion. Ensure information needed for labeling of finished goods is accurate and correct.
• Maintain effective communications with internal customers regarding inventory accuracy, engineering changes, shop order closeouts, and labor tracking
• Establish and maintain work procedures and records for this positions job responsibility and product quality
• Complete status reports and data analysis to review and evaluate production progress, work in process, and raw material inventory in-line with finished goods demands
• Interact with shop floor management daily to resolve issues regarding manufacturing efficiencies or to provide additional information as requested by Manufacturing, Customer Service and Accounting
• Develop and achieve departmental/company goals and work center standards.
• Confer with department supervisors to determine progress of work and completion dates; inventory levels and solve production problems
• Maintain an accurate inventory count of WIP and finished goods
• Ensure that all operations are within established guidelines and conform to health and safety standards
• Conduct a continuous study of internal processed and methods, research new technology and develop proposals for application of such technology for the purposes of cost reduction and process improvements
Requirements, Experience, & Education:
• 3+ years of production planning experience in a manufacturing environment
• Operations experience working in a manufacturing environment producing custom products
• Working knowledge of ERP Systems and supply chain concepts
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage projects and meet deadlines
• Excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills
• Comfortable in a fast-paced, change focused environment
• Collaborative and analytical thinker with strong written and verbal communication skills
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office with emphasis in Excel skills
• Bachelor's or associate degree in business administration - Supply Chain or related field
• APICS certification
