Ultium Cells is a joint venture lithium-Ion automotive battery cell manufacturing plant between LG Energy Solutions and General Motors. Position Description:
The Production Operator will initiate the battery cell process by using the plants technology. An understanding of Anode and Cathode mixing will be used while utilizing the HMI to activate the equipment. Upon an employment offer, Ultium Cells will provide training to all incoming team members. As an introductory role, interested candidates are encouraged to apply regardless of their level of expertise.
Job Responsibilities:
• Understand and demonstrate workplace and process safety, PPE requirements, including for hazardous materials, equipment and other general workplace requirements
• Demonstrate understanding of battery cell manufacturing process
• Demonstrate working knowledge of anode and cathode mixing processes, including bi-product recycling process
• Monitor and troubleshoot formation systems and processes and return to operations using multiple PLC controls
• Demonstrate understanding and ability to use Human Machine Interface (HMI) to activate equipment to call material for mixing and validation
• Set up and monitoring of HMI to load, validate and monitor coating process, press and coil process
• Load foil material for cathode and anode
• Inspection of final product to validate thickness/moisture level using line inspection equipment
• Monitor process and work with subject matter experts on troubleshooting and issue management
• Operate equipment including manual pendent controls for crane operation, conveyor, hand-jack and other equipment as needed
• Additional duties as assigned
Qualifications and Competencies:
• Exhibit an understanding of metric weights and measures
• Demonstrate basic math and reading comprehension
• Ability to watch gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure machine is working properly.
• Easily demonstrate critical thinking, problem solving, attention to detail, decision making and troubleshooting
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Ability to demonstrate effective verbal and electronic communication skills, including active listening skills
• Basic understanding and experience/comfort level with computers and digital tools including experience using Microsoft Office
• Use of PPE including clean room gown, safety glasses and steel toe shoes
