Role Summary

Manages and coordinates daily production activities.   Ensures adequate staffing, materials and equipment necessary to meet production schedules.  Manages daily activities of team members.  Ensures products are produced to the required quality standards, time and cost. Analyzes and implements plans in response to requirements of new products or product changes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manages all production activities of the company, ensuring continued performance and improvements in safety, quality, and productivity, while also maintaining a healthy, safe and clean work environment.
  • Communicates production expectations to the supervisors.
  • Ensures that the supervisors have the training and experience to maintain a motivated workforce and safe working environment
  • Counsels and coaches the Supervisors when their performance is not acceptable
  • Practices positive employee relations: hiring, training, career development, disciplinary action and conducting regular and timely performance appraisals.
  • Works with Operations, Engineering, Quality and HR to improve work conditions and throughput
  • Ensures that all shop employees have or receive the training and experience required to meet quality and volume expectations.
  • Reviews work instructions to ensure effectiveness and reasonableness
  • Ensures supervisors monitor and track operator performance
  • Participates in Manpower meetings weekly
  • Participates in Fast Response meetings daily
  • Participates in Safety Committee meetings monthly
  • Analyzes and evaluates costs to develop greater efficiencies and profitability in the plant and its processes.
  • Reviews and takes action to maintain and improve (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) 
  • Performs other assignments from time to time as Manager/or his designees so direct

Key Qualifications/Requirements

  • College degree in a related discipline eg.  Manufacturing, business or equivalent work experience in a management or supervisory capacity.
  • Minimum 10 years related work experience in manufacturing, engineering and/or production experience preferably in an automotive parts supplier environment with assembly and/or machining.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Organized and self motivated professional.
  • Knowledge of GD&T, QFD, DFMA, VE/VA, DOE, FMEA, ISO 14001, IATF 16949, Lean Mfg. and 5S required.
  • Familiarity with automotive data systems and knowledge of legislated requirements under the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
