Richmond Professional Lab is a commercial photofinishing lab located at 7545 Midlothian Turnpike. We edit, print, and ship photo-related orders for over 2500 professional photography studios operating in all 50 states. We maintain a broad product line, which includes small and large format photographic prints, canvas wraps, vinyl banners, t-shirts, holiday cards, ornaments, and mugs. WE ARE SEEKING TO FILL AN HP INDIGO AREA LEAD POSITION WITHIN OUR PRODUCTION DEPARTMENT:
We are looking for an experienced Production Lead to help with the overall successful functionality of our Hewlett-Packard Indigo Printer. We work in a fast-paced environment and are passionate about finding ideal candidates to help our organization succeed. Our goal is to create a motivated and positive workspace with employees who are eager to learn and grow. We maintain a staff of just over 100 full-time employees, plus 200 seasonal employees depending on the time of year. Our business is highly cyclical, with two busy seasons per year - spring and fall. This position will serve as the primary operator of the Indigo printer on our 3rd Shift and maintain the digital queue using our internal Kodak DP2 software. This role will focus on efficiency and maximizing output to hit the printing quotas in place for the 3rd Shift.
The Indigo Area Lead will report to the 3rd Shift Team Leader and assist them in the overall functionality of the Indigo printer. Our ideal candidate will be comfortable with the use of printing software, is reliable and detail-oriented, and can prioritize responsibilities with support and guidance. This position requires a high level of organization, a strong sense of motivation and someone who is willing to learn all aspects of photo printing.
Position Details:
- This is a 3rd Shift position, with the schedule being Sunday - Thursday, 11:00pm - 7:00am.
- Ideal candidates are comfortable with the use of printing software, reliable and detail-oriented, adept at multi-tasking, can prioritize responsibilities, and can effectively communicate with others.
- Other key qualities for this position include the ability to lead a team (with the support and guidance of a supervisor) to minimize printer downtimes and meet printing guidelines, high levels of organizational skills, a desire to grow within the RPL Leadership pipeline, and the ability to work quickly and efficiently under pressure.
Responsibilities Include:
- Conduct daily operation of the HP Indigo printer with assistance from certified maintenance staff
- Utilize printing software including Kodak DP2 and the HP DFE
- Trim stacks of printed photos using industrial stack cutter machinery
- Assess area goals and ensure workflows stay organized on a daily basis.
- Delegate responsibilities and monitor performance of seasonal team members within the area on a daily basis.
- Be knowledgeable in all area tasks and perform/train them as needed.
- Able to multi-task and prioritize multiple different printers and processes so that they are all running at once.
- Remain organized in both a physical and digital environment.
- Assist training and development of seasonal/part-time associates for ongoing development.
- Effectively communicate with the next shift the status of the work for when they come in.
Job Skills & Qualifications:
- High School Diploma required; college experience/degree preferred.
- A willingness to take direction, learn, and accept guidance is vital.
- Proven printing experience preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all types of people.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team, generating results with general/minimal guidance from management.
- Demonstrated ability to utilize technical tools, i.e., printing software, communication channels, etc.
- Must be flexible, innovative, and comfortable in setting own priorities.
- Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work.
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organizational and planning skills.
