Lead Production Planner

The Lead Production Planner oversees production scheduling to maintain optimal inventory levels for customer demand fulfillment. Instructing and supporting staff, they ensure timely and efficient product distribution. Collaborating with Customer Service, Marketing, Production, Quality Control, and Sales, the role involves reviewing back orders, prioritizing production orders, and managing potential schedule interruptions.  

Responsibilities

• Production Planning and Coordination:
  • Lead planning activities, including bills of material, routings, inventory records, lead times, and operations.
  • Coordinate production plans for distribution stock, ensuring timely material provision.
  • Schedule and run Backlog and Production meetings, facilitating communication and feedback.
• Inventory Management:
  • Develop production plans based on sales and forecasts, controlling distribution inventory levels.
  • Review stock levels, collaborating with Senior Management to ensure optimal customer service.
• Communication and Collaboration:
  • Interface with customer service, marketing, production, quality control, and sales departments.
  • Generate and release work orders for various materials.
  • Participate in strategic business planning, generating and executing the Master Schedule.
• Issue Resolution and Continuous Improvement:
  • Detect and resolve significant deviations from the production plan.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for supply issues, implementing corrective action plans.
• Supervision and Training:
  • Supervise department activities, providing training and instructions for efficiency.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree and 8 or more years' experience, including 0-2 years' supervisory experience or equivalent experience.
• Experience in planning operations/production areas required.
• Hands on knowledge and experience with BOM's (Bill of Materials) and Production Routings required.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills required.
• Project management experience preferred.
• Previous experience in a leadership or mentorship role is preferred.
• Visual Scheduling tools experience preferred.
• Proficiency in using planning tools, ERP systems, and other relevant software.
• Familiarity with manufacturing processes, supply chain dynamics, and inventory control.
• Experience participating in strategic business planning processes.
