The Product Safety Data Analyst is responsible for identifying potential emerging vehicle safety issues by analyzing, mining, and monitoring relevant internal and external data. This requires identifying trends and patterns in customer complaint, engineering, crash, telematics, survey, and research data. Must be analytical, adaptable, and very detail oriented, producing high quality and accurate work product.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
Understand Safety Data and how to use it appropriately in data analysis
Correctly perform the appropriate statistical analysis to provide unbiased results
Tell a story with data to influence decision making
Develop innovative analytical approaches to root out, predict, and identify potential emerging issues through data analysis and reporting
Present analysis findings to internal audiences by synthesizing complex data and concepts into easy-to comprehend cohesive presentations
Collaborate with Safety, Engineering, Quality, and IT stakeholders to arrive at actionable insights
SME in applied reliability/survival analysis and sampling design
Manage safety cases on a deadline, including: pulling data, researching concern, reading verbatim data, completing data analysis, and communicating results to subsequent stakeholders. This may require occasional after-hours availability and support of urgent Product Safety cases and risk assessment
QUALIFICATIONS :
5 + years of experience in applied statistical analysis
Advanced degree in statistics, applied mathematics, operations research, or related field
Proficiency in varied statistical data analyses such as sampling design, reliability and survival analysis, accelerated validation testing plans, analysis of variance, time series analysis
Proficiency in one or more data mining / predictive modeling tools such as Python and R as well as proficiency in SQL
Experience working with data in Hadoop/GMDP and Databricks
Ability to design and build insightful visuals using programing languages (Python, R) or dashboards (Power BI)
Experience using various methods to analyze text/unstructured data
Ability to effectively communicate results and methodologies. Must be comfortable presenting to executive leadership
Must have strong work ethic and drive for results and the ability to work in an ambiguous workspace
Experience with data preparation, rationalization, and processing
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks without sacrificing quality
Understanding of vehicle safety technologies including design intent, function and intended performance in the field
Additional Description
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of GM IT systems and processes, especially in the areas of Engineering, Quality/Warranty, Customer Care and Aftersales, or OnStar
Proficiency in Python and PySpark
Experience in vehicle development or validation of safety related systems or components
Working knowledge of safety standards and regulations
This role is catergorized as Hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report onsite three times per week at minimum.
