Environmental, Health and Safety Coordinator Job Description

- Provides safety related technical guidance and solutions to support manufacturing operations
- Coordinate and lead all aspects of environmental, health, and Safety (EHS) programs
- Directs programs and projects that promote a safe and an incident-free work environment, environmental sustainability and regulatory compliance
- Serve as the lead individual for regulatory agency inspections, corporate reviews and community liaison functions regarding EHS activities
- Common tasks include project leadership, associate communications and direction, evaluating applicability of SHE regulations, KPI tracking, regulatory reporting (Tier II, MIOHSA and OSHA logs, waste manifests), record keeping, training, internal auditing, incident management, implementing corrective actions and the promotion of continuous improvement.
- Coordinate and lead MIOHSA, OSHA, DEQ and EPA on-site inspections
- Conducts annual risk assessments of task and machinery in areas such as automation, fire elimination and energy conrol
- Conducts and supports ergonomic assessments and improvement activities
- Administers workers compensation functions, including coordinating post incident genbas and implementing corrective actions
- Chairs Management Safety Team, Employee Safety Committee, and Top Safety Patrol
- Conducts inspections and audits in plant and at other facilities to detect existing or potential hazards and determine corrective or preventive measures.
- Maintain and update Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP) & Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure Plan (SPCC).
- Regular daily presence on the production floor on all shifts
Skills Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree in the Occupational Health and Safety Field, or Environmental Field of Study preferred; a combination of education and experience may be considered.
- 1-2 years Safety and Environmental experience
- Safety Certifications a plus (OSHA 10, ASP, CSP, CIH, CFPS, CHMM, etc.)
- Experience coordinating/leading training activities
- Working knowledge of appropriate office software applications
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to manage priorities effectively
- Project management skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and good presentation skills
- Group facilitation, conflict resolution
- Ability to lead and motivate others to achieve company priorities and goals
- Applies creativity, technical, regulatory, and business knowledge in problem solving
Physical Requirements:
- Standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, talking, hearing and repetitive motions
- Must be able to sit for extended periods of time using a computer
- Must be able to twist, bend, reach as needed
- Finger dexterity enough to use a keyboard
- Occasional lifting of items up to 25 pounds
- Position work environment is typically indoors, but does include outside work for inspections of external areas and potential clean up if needed
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
