Product ManagerUS Payroll and Time Reporting (Exton, PA or Lexington, MA)


The HR Data Digital and Technology (HR DD&T) team at Takeda plays an essential role in selecting, implementing, and supporting best in class technologies to drive HR's strategic initiatives. This role will be responsible for the Payroll and Time Reporting product area. You will partner closely with CoEIs, HR Business Partners, Technology and Service Center teams to understand challenges and prioritize and implement solutions within the Payroll and Time Reporting systems. You will partner with the vendors to understand product offerings and determine how to best implement changes to support Takeda’s needs.

Responsibilities:

As a member of our HR DD&T team, you will own the US systems for Payroll and Time Reporting. You will lead implementation and configuration decisions for these systems.

  • Product Vision: Partner with all stakeholders including Service Centers, CoEIs, HR Business Partners, and DD&T to understand the business strategy and align that to product vision, goals, and objectives.
  • Requirements Gathering: Work closely with stakeholders to understand their needs and translate them into clear and actionable requirements. Facilitate decision-making by identifying options, defining decision criteria, and evaluating options, and presenting recommendations.
  • Product Backlog Management: Create and maintain a prioritized backlog, ensuring that it is well-defined, aligned with business priorities, represents a realistic timeframe, and is ready for implementation/development.
  • User Story Creation: Write user stories with clear acceptance criteria, ensuring that they are well-defined, estimated, and ready for development.
  • Sprint Planning: Collaborate with the development team to plan and prioritize work for each sprint, ensuring that the team has a clear understanding of the goals and objectives.
  • Sprint Review and Retrospective: Participate in sprint reviews to gather feedback from stakeholders and incorporate it into future iterations. Conduct retrospectives to identify areas for improvement and implement changes.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with the development team and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Product Quality: Ensure that the product meets the highest standards of quality by conducting regular testing, reviewing deliverables, and providing feedback to the development team. Ensure alignment with audit standards including SOX principles and other internal standards.
  • Product Launch: Coordinate with business leaders and other teams to plan and execute successful implementation of changes by ensuring communication and training have been appropriately prepared and executed. Create appropriate documentation to support users.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies. Proactively identify opportunities to improve processes and user experience in the Payroll and Time Reporting systems. Explore new vendor features and releases and raise awareness with business partners to identify implementation targets. Configure features and demonstrate for design review. Continuously improve the Agile product management process and contribute to the overall growth and success of the organization.
  • Project Management & Ongoing support: Provide ongoing system support for the Payroll and Time Reporting systems. Engage with leadership to provide project and status updates, escalate issues, and drive them to resolution. Collaborate within and across teams to advise and resolve problems. Perform special projects as required or requested.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience supporting Payroll and Time Reporting systems for a large US corporation.
  • Experience with Workday Human Capital Management, UKG Dimensions, and ADP Payroll Systems.
  • Proven experience as an Agile Product Owner, strong understanding of Agile methodologies, (e.g., Scrum, Kanban) and experience working in Agile teams. Agile certifications (e.g., Certified Scrum Product Owner) are a plus.
  • Familiarity with software development processes and technologies. Knowledge of product management tools (e.g., Jira, Trello) and proficiency in using project management software.
  • Ability to set priorities and manage projects to deadlines by balancing time, cost, and scope constraints.
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized.
  • Inquisitive and proactive problem solver. Demonstrated critical thinking, data-driven decision making, and analytical skills aligned to best practices and architectural principals.
  • Ability to express complex concepts in terms understandable to the user community.
  • Teamwork; timely communication with peers, team members, management.
  • Ability to work with highly confidential information and an understanding of auditing and SOX principles.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or Software/Systems or equivalent practical experience.
