Description
PowerStop is seeking a Product Management Intern - Rotors and Drums who will assist with the new part development process. The position is hands-on and will enhance the candidate's knowledge of the Automotive Aftermarket, as well as enhance experience with Mechanical Engineering and Metrology.
This is a paid internship with the possibility of a flexible schedule during the fall semester!
KEY RELATIONSHIPS
- Reports to: Product Manager - Rotors and Drums
- Cross-functional: Occasional correspondence with other members of the Product Management Team
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist the Product Manager for Rotors and Drums with new part development.
- Order and arrange the delivery (or pick-up) of brake part samples from the parts department at various vehicle dealers in the south/west suburbs of Chicago. In the event a part needs to be picked up at the dealer, the mileage can be reimbursed by PowerStop.
- Photograph and take measurements of the brake part samples and report back to the Product Manager
- Occasional communication with personnel at parts departments to obtain information regarding part fitment
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
- Understands how to read a blueprint and general knowledge of how to use metrology equipment (Precision micrometer, measuring caliper, profilometer, etc)
- Completed, or working toward degree in Automotive technology or a focus on Mechanical Engineering
- Strong ability with Google Suite or Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook)
- Favors opportunity over environment; position based in Bedford Park, IL headquarters alongside warehouse setting but with location flexibility during current environment.
- A love of all things automotive and a desire to learn the industry, as well as put a little mud on the tires.
