Product Development Supervisor

POSITION SUMMARY:
This supervisor for frozen product categories will be responsible for leading a team of Specialists to support innovation and renovation activities and drive growth in key channels for Nestle Professional.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Lead the PD&C support groups for support of product Innovation and renovation for the frozen Food products categories.
  • Direct through good project management skills, the involvement and support of the cross functional team, obtaining required project resources to ensure success as required.
  • Be a key leader of the Food Safety Team for NPCIC, providing viewpoint of the support team for key projects or activities.
  • Demonstrate a strong End-to-End mentality working closely and communicating frequently with various stakeholders - Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, R&D, Procurement, Marketing, and Finance – to adequately understand and meet business requirements. Requires the ability to communicate and solicit feedback on competing project prioritizations.
  • Manages team of specialists and makes significant decisions on team focus areas, project scope, technology execution and roles and responsibilities.
  • Requires the ability to influence others outside of own job area on policies, practices and procedures, and often more senior levels in organization.
  • Represent department in cross functional activities and groups formed to drive the Nestle Professional business forward.
  • Recommend staffing, resources, and suggest improvement to the status quo to achieve superior results and team dynamics.
  • Orient, train, and hire new employees. Coach and provide development support to associates using the Talent & Performance Management System.

REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM EDUCATION LEVEL:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Food Science or related field.
  • Requires the ability to travel at approximately 5%.
  • Requires ability to cover NPCIC building support as required.
  • Must be able to vary work as needed and quickly shift project focus to accomplish business needs and satisfy customer’s changing priorities.
  • Must be comfortable working in food manufacturing and culinary environments.

EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of food-industry experience, with experience leading cross functional teams on projects.

SKILLS:
  • Leadership or Supervisory skills.
  • Contribute strong individual efforts while supporting peers to achieve the team’s business goals.
  • Good creative, problem solving and organizational skills, as well as good communications skills.
  • Individual must have strong work ethics, able to work unsupervised and demand only the best to achieve their goals while supporting overall team objectives.
  • Candidate must be able to thrive in a fast paced, multi-project/task, team oriented and customer focused environment and be comfortable working with people of varying disciplines and levels: upper management, sales, Product Development, marketing, R&D, manufacturing, and plant personnel.
  • Computer proficiency in excel, nutritional & labeling databases, departmental and Global Nestle systems and in electronic communication.
  • Excellent time management.
