Job Summary

As part of our commitment to excellence, we are seeking a skilled Product Development Engineer with expertise in developing pre-rolls or cigarettes to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the advancement of our product portfolio and drive innovation in the hemp manufacturing space.

The Product Development Engineer (Pre-Rolls) will play a key role in the development and improvement of our hemp pre-roll products. This individual will be responsible for leading projects from concept to commercialization, utilizing their technical expertise to optimize product performance, quality, and manufacturability. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to drive innovation, solve technical challenges, and ensure the successful launch of new products.

This position is open to remote consulting.

Responsibilities

Product Development: Lead Product Development projects for pre-roll hemp products, from initial concept to commercialization, ensuring alignment with company objectives and market demands.

Research & Analysis: Identify market trends, consumer preferences, and understand the competitive landscape, translating insights into actionable Product Development strategies.

Product Design: Design and prototype new pre-roll products, leveraging engineering principles and manufacturing expertise to optimize product performance, quality, and cost.

Vendor Management: Collaborate with external vendors to conduct feasibility studies, scale-up trials, and process optimization activities.

Product Improvement: Identify and implement improvements to existing products, processes, and equipment to enhance efficiency, quality, and regulatory compliance.

Sourcing: Partner with suppliers and vendors to source raw materials, components, and equipment for Product Development and manufacturing.

Compliance: Stay abreast of industry advancements, emerging technologies, and regulatory requirements related to hemp products, ensuring compliance and driving continuous improvement.

Project Management: Document and communicate project updates, findings, and recommendations effectively to cross-functional teams and senior management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, or related field); advanced degree preferred.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in Product Development, preferably in the tobacco manufacturing industry with a focus on cigarettes and pre-rolls.
• Strong understanding of tobacco processing, manufacturing techniques, and equipment.
• Proficiency in product design software (e.g., CAD), statistical analysis tools, and project management software.
• Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet tight deadlines.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, with a focus on innovation, quality, and continuous improvement.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards related to tobacco, hemp, and cannabis products is desirable.
