This role leads the procurement team in the strategic execution of fact-based sourcing to support total company operations and ensures our company’s equipment, services, supplies and technology needs are met. You will partner with other experts across the organization, leading and providing subject matter expertise, bringing new suppliers and current trends to the table and managing the vendor selection process for significant one-time purchases and multi-year agreements.
What will I do?
- Manage and develop team of employees, engage in meaningful conversations, build trusted relationships and provide the resources, feedback, and development opportunities they need to be successful
- Utilize all available resources for fact base analysis to create cost models
- Remain ahead of the changing needs and purchasing habits of our customer by recognizing areas of opportunity and identifying gaps
- Build relationships with product vendors to position Wegmans with new products/trends; negotiate programs and prices to ensure our customers get the best product at the best price
- Build relationships and maintain a presence within the business unit to see first-hand what programs work; identify strengths and weaknesses and listen to feedback for improvements
- Support business partners with best-in-class analytics with commitment to obtaining best value
- Lead the search and procurement process along with conducting analysis of supplier bid results to provide feedback to business partners and business units
- Support and collaborate with all business units to ensure we are procuring the highest quality ingredients, technology, equipment and services at the right prices by using market intelligence and relevant data
- Manage aggregated spend data across departments and conduct sourcing analysis
- Track commodity indices and develop market perspectives for high-priority categories (e.g. index movements, commodity and supplier)
- Support strategic corporate priorities and incorporate them into strategic plans
- Maintain an in-depth understanding of the current digital procurement solutions
Required Qualifications
- 2 or more years’ experience leading cross functional projects or teams
- 2 or more years of buying, procurement or equivalent experience
- Excellent critical, analytical and creative thinking skills
- Systems aptitude
- Financial acumen
Preferred Qualifications
- Enthusiasm for and knowledge of relevant products and services
- Experience with purchasing
- Experience reviewing and leading negotiating contracts
- Experience collaborating cross-functionally with vendors and business partners
