Procurement Data Specialist

Assist in compliance, oversight, guidance, and lifecycle management for direct and indirect materials using all PLM Modules (Product Lifecycle Management) and JD Edwards. Respond to Jira ticket requests for various MRO (Maintenance, Repair & Operations) setups in JD Edwards, working to complete these according to internal customers’ expectations. Assist in procurement services functions for approval of the direct and indirect materials.

Assist in Procurement Data Management process. Collaborate with internal teams to develop and maintain accurate Procurement Data including, but not limited to, direct and indirect materials and MRO items. Monitor direct and indirect materials at end of life-cycle with the goal to reduce storage of obsolete materials and reduce costs of dumping materials. Input data as necessary to keep Procurement Data up to date. Identify opportunities to promote better data and procedures through adjustments, additions, or eliminations.

Data Support, Analysis & Resolution. Support accurate resolution of issues and questions for direct material, indirect material, and MRO item setup and maintenance. Communicate and coordinate with supported groups within the business. Occasionally train others in new or revised procedures. Analyze integrity of data at time of input. Escalate issues with data integrity as needed to ensure accurate data to meet the business needs. Monitor supplier status at time of MRO creation, and elevate any non-compliances to relevant teams.

Explore process improvements within the area of responsibility. Identify and elevate process gaps, as well as opportunities to streamline activities for procurement harmonization within the organization. Focus on manual system integrations in Simmons’ processes and systems. Work with all team members to drive better business processes.

Participates as a member of the Procurement team. Participate in the ongoing development, communication and implementation of concepts, programs and policies. Attend appropriate team meetings. Accept responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness then bring them to the attention of leadership. Support issue resolution, actively seek process improvements, and reinforce actions to achieve synergy within the larger organization.

Simmons’ Operating systems principles and objectives: Perform other duties as directed. Is familiar with Simmons’ established operating systems (e.g. J.D. Edwards, Oracle PLM, Oracle Cloud, Microsoft Office Applications, company policies, LEAN); understand the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position’s role in support of these systems – including a consideration of the impact of individual actions on the systems and the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): As required by visiting facility.

Travel: Travel occasionally within North America for training or to support supplier audits, occasionally requiring overnight stays.

Technical Experience: Related work experience preferred. Preference for experience in a field requiring attention to detail including operations, graphics, regulatory, labeling, prepress, quality, business, science, sourcing, etc. Strong communication, excellent project management skills and an understanding of business systems and processes are required.

Industry Experience: Preference for food processing organization.

Minimum Education: High School education.

Preferred Education: Degree in agricultural or general business, animal nutrition, graphics, food science, etc.
