Technical support roles reside in all the Business within Shell and are typically at the front line of the Company's activities. Shell Catalysts & Technologies (SC&T) is a part of the Shell Projects and Technology (P&T) division.  The Port Allen manufacturing facility is the only fully integrated plant within the SC&T plants.  You will have an opportunity to become part of the manufacturing team focused on safety, quality and delivery in a world class global business and organization.

As a member of the Port Allen manufacturing team, you will be an individual contributor in the Technical Department which includes Process Engineering, Control Systems Engineering and Quality Assurance. The Technical Department is a service organization to all production and ancillary units within the Port Allen, LA Manufacturing Facility.  These include; Utilities, the Port Allen Precipitated Alumina (PAPA) unit, Extrusion Line 1 (EXT1), Extrusion Line 2 (EXT2), Impregnation (IMP) and BlueCAT (currently in construction).

You will become an expert in the manufacturing of extruded alumina-based catalysts and impregnated catalysts. 

More specifically, your role will include:

  • Technical support of the Port Allen production and ancillary units

  • Maintaining and troubleshooting the manufacturing and ancillary processes to meet or exceed plant safety, quality and delivery KPI’s

  • Maintaining a safe work environment through a learner mindset and understanding of core safety processes such as Management of Change, Permit to Work, Safe Isolation, and Hazards and Effects Management Process

  • And providing early stage design as well as commissioning and implementation of major capital projects

What we need from you

  • Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering or similar engineering field

  • Minimum of five (5) years of related manufacturing experience required

  • Proven troubleshooting and problem-solving skills backed by causal learning experience and the ability to interface with a broad spectrum of stakeholders including operations staff, commercial staff, raw material suppliers and service providers

  • Excellent communication skills

The base salary range for this position is $101,000 - $151,000 per year.  Individual pay will be based on various factors, such as relevant work experience, education, certifications, skill level, seniority, and internal equity.

For regular full-time or regular part-time employees of the Company (participating companies as listed in the Summary Plan Description), insurance coverage options include medical, dental, vision coverage, life Insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs. Employees also participate in a company pension plan and a 401(k) plan. Paid leave includes up to 6 weeks of paid vacation time, up to 11 paid holidays, and parental leave offering 16 weeks of paid leave to birthing mothers, and 8 weeks of paid leave for non-birthing parents.

Additionally, employees are eligible for disability leave for up to 52 weeks at 100% or 50% of base pay. Shell also offers other compensation such financial reimbursement for adoption, wellness, education, and personal learning expenses, and some roles are eligible for discretionary long-term incentives. For interns, eligible benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs; participation in a 401(k) plan; and paid leave for up to 11 paid holidays.
