SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITY:
The manufacturing Process Engineer position develops, implements, monitor and maintain optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards; recommends and implements improvements to production processes, methods and controls; coordinates manufacturing launch for new or revised products.
Essential Functions:
Work includes most of the following:
- Evaluates manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators.
- Develops manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors.
- Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning work flow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
- Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished- product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes.
- Provides manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements.
- Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
- Develop working instructions, workmanship standards and process documents, and ensure they are followed.
- Improve continually existing operation, for increased quality, productivity, efficiency and cost savings.
- Investigate operational problems affecting production and reporting and recommending solutions.
- Manage manufacturing documentation required for product manufacturing i.e. revise drawing, accurate work instructions and workmanship standards and process procedures.
- Provide manufacturing data i.e. production control charts, reliability, process capability, to improve the process and monitor and measure progress to target.
- Organize meetings with other team members to facilitate growth.
- Identify ways to reduce production costs through recommendations – i.e. new process equipment, equipment justification to improve performance.
- Work with other relevant departments to determine estimated costs, run time, cost reduction and close the feedback loop.
- Liaise with suppliers on manufacturing process.
- Train and supervise staff on new development processes and technology.
- Establish a training and quality culture.

QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES:
- BA/BS in an engineering discipline is preferred, although may be replaced with significant practical experience.
- Requires minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a production environment.
- Good knowledge of LEAN manufacturing and ISO methodology
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint.
- Experience must be in a manufacturing environment

- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Excellent communications (written and oral).
- Prioritizing, multi-tasking and follow through skills.

- Strong mechanical knowledge with working understanding of electronics.
- Understanding of Lean Manufacturing/Continuous Improvement concepts.
- A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.
- Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
