Description
The Process Chemist is curious to understand how things work and then figure out how they can work better. A passionate and tenacious solver, the Process Chemist will work with people at all levels to accomplish goals. The ideal candidate maintains a positive attitude, embraces challenges as opportunities, and is diligent about staying organized and on-track.
Principal Accountabilities
  • Monitor operations to identify improvement opportunities related to safety performance, regulatory compliance, quality, efficiency, throughput, equipment reliability, waste reduction and operating cost.
  • Drive consistent and repeatable internal and external quality.
  • Continuous optimization of the processes to increase yield, Right the First Time Quality, and plant utilization.
  • Facilitate investigations for customer complaints to identify root causes and implement sustainable solutions to prevent a reoccurrence.
  • Effectively communicate with operators, maintenance, supervisors, and shift chemist with technical issues or opportunities to provide troubleshooting and/or support for improvement projects and capital investments.
  • Reduce/eliminate variances by recommending adjustment to recipes and manage Bill of Materials to reduce production variances.
  • Drive blending strategy for expired and return goods.
  • Execute new product and raw material introductions, recipe development and specification/documentation
  • Available to support shift chemist, supervisors, and operators with technical advice during off hours.
  • Available for Process Chemistry support for capital and expense projects
  • Work in collaboration with the Process Engineers on new product introductions, waste minimization, energy consumption, cycle time and asset effectiveness improvements
  • Work alongside operators, maintenance, and engineer as a member of the team to support the production requirements.
  • Actively involved in EHS processes

Qualifications
  • Strives to establish and maintain trust and respect with all coworkers at the site including operators, technical staff, and management.
  • Can recognize hazards and change behaviors to support a zero-incident mindset for self and others.
  • Takes quality issues to heart and is dedicated to getting countermeasures in place to delight the customer in a timely fashion.
  • Achieves stated cycle times for various products in accordance with the production schedule while maintaining an eye for capacity growth.
  • Can thrive within a very fast paced, commercially driven environment while striving to learn all plants.
  • Has a full working knowledge of the equipment and processes associated with the plant and packaging.
  • B.S. Chemistry required.
