Job Summary: Prepares and/or reviews and substantiates reconciliations for bank, claim fund, funds held, lease schedule, fixed assets, and other balance sheet and expense accounts.
Main Responsibilities:
• Responsible for a wide array of routine to complex corporate accounting reporting and analysis.
• Prepares journal entries in accordance with STAT and GAAP principles.
• Assists with investment accounting and investment guidelines
• Assists with capital modeling and rating agency calculations and reporting.
• Assists with preparation of GAAP and/or STAT reporting and closing processes.
• Assists with specialized Statutory schedules including, but not limited to, supplemental accident and health exhibits, Schedule F/S, Schedule T, and/or Schedule H.
• Prepares and analyzes claim data and reserving workpapers to determine adequacy of reserving using claim development tables and to identify inconsistencies in the data files.
• Prepares and analyzes financial data to ensure accuracy and provide commentary on financial results to improve decision making and financial performance based upon qualitative and quantitative trends.
• Manages and implements reinsurance contracts and determines which areas of the business are not performing in accordance with plan.
• Analyzes incoming policy level data files from administrators, questions and investigates discrepancies when needed. Tracks and maintains detailed supporting work papers, and records transactions.
• Prepares and substantiates reconciliation for bank accounts, claim fund, funds held, lease schedule, fix assets, and other balance sheet and expense accounts.
• Documents policies, procedures, and workflow for assigned areas of responsibility.
• Assists with external and regulatory reviews, audits, and examinations, as needed.
• Researches and responds to state requests or questions. Maintains relationships with the state insurance departments. Assists with the completion of state filings, and forms. Ensures all premium tax and related payments are made timely.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience (One-year relevant experience is equivalent to one-year college).
- Role is hybrid - 2 days per week in NYC office
