Job Summary:
As a staff pharmacist, you will perform various tasks related to the safe and effective use of medications. You will oversee the work of pharmacy technicians and ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations. You will also provide patient education and counseling, manage inventory, process prescriptions, and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
As a pharmacist at AccessHealth, you are expected to perform the following essential job duties and responsibilities:
- Follow all the state and federal laws or rules that regulate the practice of pharmacy and the 340B program. Maintain a high level of professionalism while on duty.
- Process prescriptions, fill, check, and dispense them according to the customer's needs and the physician's orders. Inform the physician of any possible drug interactions or errors and counsel the patients on how to use their medications correctly.
- Manage the pharmacy technicians, overseeing their daily tasks and performance. You would make sure that they adhere to the established procedures, policies and standards of the agency and the pharmacy. You should also mentor them, providing guidance, feedback, and support. You should address any issues or concerns in a respectful and private manner.
- Managing the pharmacy inventory, ensuring that there are sufficient stocks of medications and documenting all transactions related to prescription and distribution. Advising healthcare providers on formulary options. Process inventory returns to the various programs/vendors promptly.
- Assist with the pharmacy’s clinical initiatives.
- Ensure the security of the pharmacy, preventing any theft or diversion of prescription drugs and records. You should also be available to take calls after-hours in case of any alarm or security issue in the pharmacy. Additionally, you will be responsible for ensuring that the pharmacy is always well-maintained and clean.
- Assist in the operation of AccessHealth's Missouri City and Brookshire Class D Pharmacy, ensuring that the pharmaceutical supplies are adequate and that the pharmacy rules and regulations are followed. Report any discrepancies to the nurse supervisor and PIC.
- Provide excellent customer service to patients and agency employees, providing drug information or other support as requested.
- Assists with provision/maintenance of pharmaceuticals available for clinic floor stock

EDUCATION/LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION QUALIFICATIONS
- BS Pharmacy or Pharm. D Degree
- Licensed by Texas State Board of Pharmacy as a Registered Pharmacist
- At least One year work experience.
- Bilingual (Spanish) ability a plus / strongly preferred.
