Private Chef -Full Time

For Immediate Hire! Our client based in Manhattan is seeking a full time Private Chef live-out (Up to $175,000). The Chef will menu plan with the client, shop/order fresh groceries, prepare/cook & serve meals for the primary family members and occasional guest. Very friendly family and seeking a friendly and outgoing Chef to join their household.

This position will be primarily based on New York City most of the year. You must have the ability to travel with the family to their other home. The meals will be both formal and informal. The summers will be in the Hamptons.

Live in accommodations will be provided when in the Hamptons. The salary will be dependent on experience and education.

Desired Responsiblities, Qualifications & Requirements:

Responsibilities:

Duties may include, but are not limited to:

1. Prepare high quality, nourishing health-conscious meals

2. Operate on the foundation that food is medicine, and ensure meals are well-balanced to nourish and sustain to meet health and nutrition goals

3. Procure top quality ingredients, prioritizing local and/or organic ingredients. This may include visiting farmer’s markets, specialty stores, or researching online sources

4. Prepare healthy and balanced meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, including homemade healthy snacks

5. Develop and maintain extensive wine knowledge including the maintenance of the online wine inventory upon consumption for all properties

6. Research and identify top local, high quality organic products

7. Serve meals, set tables, and occasionally bartend when needed

8. Create and review menus with the principal

9. Arrange and oversee caterers and staff for larger functions as needed

10. Maintain kitchen and pantry inventory (i.e. liquor, wine, pantry goods, small appliances, utensils, etc.)

11. Provide healthy staff meals daily and/or organize a take-out order

12. Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, pantry, breakfast room, cabinets, and appliances. This includes deep cleaning, pantry organization and silver polishing

13. Ad hoc support for the household such as answering deliveries, telephone, etc.

Qualifications/ Requirements

1. 5+ years as a Private Chef residences-required!

2. 10+ years in the culinary industry cooking professionally- required!

3. Experience working in a health-centered industry such as a wellness retreat (Spa), vegan kitchen or for professional athletes-required!

4. Prior success creating and executing seasonally-based menus, utilizing local produce and seasonal items

5. Experience sourcing high quality goods and produce

6. Ability to manage kitchen support staff including sous chef, servers, etc.

7. Ability to tailor cooking style based on dietary preferences and preference

8. Experience cooking all meals for large groups and special events, ranging from hor d’oeuvres, snacks, plated dinners, family-style meals, buffet, etc.

9. Ability to operate with high discretion

10. Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods of time and lift 50 pounds

11. Must be comfortable working some weekends and at times long hours up to 14 hours in a day

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $150,000.00 - $175,000.00 per year
