OSI is a private, non-profit organization serving individuals with intellectual, developmental, and mental health challenges in vocational training and placement programs. The Print Shop Assistant will produce printed media that ensures our individuals have work and are able to earn a paycheck while developing their employability skills. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, 15- 20 hours per week with some flexibility.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop job layouts, composing, proofreading, preparing copy, and trouble shooting.
- Determine types of paper, colors and settings for a wide variety of jobs.
- Experience with Adobe InDesign, Microsoft Word and Excel are required. Experience with other Adobe Suite programs a plus.
- Monitor jobs for accuracy, completeness, quality and timeliness. Ensure finished product complies with job request specifications.
- Keep customers informed of progress and status of orders, resolve problems and follow jobs through to completion.
- Finishing of print products including cutting, folding, binding, gluing, and laminating.
- Communicates in a professional manner with internal and external customers.
- Prepare quotes for customers in a timely manner.
- Operate other Print Shop equipment including paper cutter, folding machine, and postage machine, perforator, and large format laminator.
- Determine work priorities and maintain production schedule; expedite workflow where appropriate.
- Monitor equipment, supplies, and materials, advising manager or maintenance personnel of needs.
- Provide consultative services to customers regarding creative design and layout.
- Complete paperwork for and deliver mailings to Post Office.
- Complete and submit required documentation electronically.
- Communicate with production department on fulfillment of jobs being performed in conjunction with print department, providing instructions and quality control standards for completion.
- Responsible for receiving and documenting twenty-four hours of appropriate staff training.
- Perform other relevant duties as assigned including occasional coverage of other work centers.
QUALIFICATIONS: An Associate Degree or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a Print-related field is preferred but not required. Minimum requirements are high school diploma or GED and at least two years’ work experience in print/graphic design. Experience with Adobe InDesign, Microsoft Word and Excel are required. Experience with other Adobe Suite programs a plus.
