Job Description

Summary:

Kaiser Associates is a leading global Strategy Consulting firm with offices in Washington, DC and London.

Kaiser delivers Growth Strategy and M&A Support to a selective and elite client base, which includes 5 of Fortune’s Top 20 “World's Most Admired Companies” (2022).  We are proud to be recognized in Vault’s 2022 “Top Consulting 30”, "Best Consulting Firms for Interactions with Clients", and “Best Consulting Firms for Retail Consulting”.

Kaiser offers a distinctive consulting experience that combines the client prestige and diverse opportunity of a large firm with the close-knit community and entrepreneurial culture of a small firm. With a focus on strategy, we offer development opportunities, accessible senior leadership, and an accelerated path to partner. For decades, Kaiser challenged the heavy travel paradigm, recognizing that many activities are best performed in Kaiser’s own offices and without any travel to the client site, creating a healthier work-life balance for our consultants and greater value for cost to our clients.

Kaiser Associates’ Financial Services & Payments practice is seeking to expand its ranks with an ambitious and motivated Principal who is energized by solving complex problems. Our Financial Services & Payments practice supports some of the largest companies in the space, with clients spanning six continents, in developing effective commercial growth and profit strategies, with offerings in the specific solution areas of market opportunity assessment, go-to-market strategies, competitive strategy, and product commercialization.

This Principal position offers a unique entrepreneurial experience for a candidate who has been part of a team with demonstrated success in advising and winning new large enterprise clients, and who understands the payments landscape, as well as associated market and business issues. This position provides the opportunity to step out, lead a team, and experience the benefits that come with a more rewarding career trajectory – including a genuine and rewarding path to Partner.

As a Principal you’ll:

  • Support the growth of our FS&P practice offerings in the specific solution areas market opportunity assessment, go to market strategies, competitive strategy, and product commercialization

  • Lead business development workstreams to grow practice revenues

  • Be a skilled analytical problem solver capable of breaking down diverse business problems into solvable pieces and synthesizing facts into actionable insights

  • Lead small, high-performing teams of consultants, providing direction and coaching to help the team complete research efficiently and effectively, apply appropriate strategic and financial analyses, and successfully address the client’s key questions

  • Be responsible for managing FS&P strategy engagements from start to finish, including defining and managing the team’s work plan and timely execution of project deliverables

  • Be a collaborative engagement leader with significant team management, mentorship, and leadership experience

  • Present strategic conclusions and recommendations to Kaiser partners and client stakeholders

  • Support FS&P practice thought leadership and intellectual capital development

  • Serve as a strategy and thought partner to clients and senior officers of the firm

Required Qualifications:

  •  5+ years of consulting experience, including manager level or higher experience, specializing in FS&P at a management consulting firm

  • Demonstrated ability to generate new business within a management consulting context, with proven abilities to attract, acquire, and develop client relationships

  • BA/BS Degree from an accredited university or college

  • An established and strong network within the FS&P sector

  • Executive-level presence and communication

  • Demonstrated experience successfully leading workstreams and small, high-performing teams

  • Creative, “big picture” thinking while maintaining keen attention to detail

  • Ability to meet deadlines while managing multiple tasks (business development, client management, project management, team management, firm leadership)

  • Foreign language skills preferred, but not required

  • Excellent verbal and written communication

  • Excellent people management skills
