Come be a part of a team of highly motivated and dedicated system administrators with detailed knowledge of infrastructure and coding standards. We are looking for a Senior Puppet Engineer to join our team for internal cloud hosted physical and virtual machine server management. The ideal candidate will have experience in designing, developing, and maintaining Puppet modules and manifests. You will be responsible for ensuring the stability and scalability of our infrastructure by automating the deployment of applications and services. Handle 35,000 + RHEL, Windows, and AIX servers in a private cloud environment. You will assist in designing, enforcing, and maintaining security rules, policies, configuration management in production and build environments. Our Puppet platform also provides connectivity to run Linux and AIX patching through ServiceNow workflows and Windows Server OS patching via WSUS and Bolt.

Job Responsibilities:

Technical Engineering Services

  • Design, develop, and maintain Puppet modules and manifests
  • Make organizational advising technical decisions for proof of concepts, inter-team collaboration, and company wide initiatives
  • Automate the deployment of applications, services, and security patches
  • Lead CI/CD pipelines and other similar workflows in GitHub, GitLab, Puppet console, Bolt, and ServiceNow

Innovation

  • Chips in to designs to implement new ideas which use new frameworks to improve an existing or new system/process/service.
  • Review existing designs and processes to highlight more efficient ways to complete existing workload more optimally through industry perspectives.
  • Understands the creation of company IPR.

Technical Leadership

  • Collaborates with technical teams and applies system expertise to deliver technical solutions.
  • Continuously learns and guides others on existing and new technologies.
  • Contributes to the development of others through mentoring or in house workshops and learning sessions.

Technology Strategy

  • Supplies new and existing technology options that support business goals.
  • Understands current technology that supports business goals. Understands system protocols, how systems operate and data flows. Aware of current technology benefits. Encouraged to independently develop a full software stack. Understands the building blocks, interactions, dependencies, and tools required to complete software and automation work. Independent study of current technology is encouraged. Work with system engineers to define system requirement and/or vital requirements for automation.

Technical Writing

  • Writes sophisticated documentation on how technology works. Builds clear documentation for new code and systems used.
  • Documenting systems designs, presentations, and business requirements for consumption and consideration at the manager level.

Innovation

  • Develops, designs, and implements new ideas which apply new frameworks to improve an existing or new system/process/service.
  • Investigative independent study and problem solving for non-routine tasks.
  • Analyzes existing processes and vendor roadmaps to highlight upcoming technology changes that would make the processes or tools more effective within a given VP function.
  • Contributes to the creation of company IPR.

Technical Writing

  • Writes advanced documentation, architecture, capabilities, limitations, and advantages for technologies. Crafts and modifies clear documentation for new code and systems used.
  • Documenting systems designs, presentations, and business requirements for consumption and consideration at the director level.
  • Contributes to industry professional norms.
  • Contributes to the protection of company IPR.


Education
:

  • Bachelor's Degree Computer Science or Engineering or applicable experience required.

Work Experience:

Required:

  • 7 plus years Technical engineering experience required.

Preferred:

  • Puppet/Bolt, Ruby, Bash, PowerShell, GitLab, System Administrator – RHEL, Windows, AIX

Washington Pay Range : $165,200.00 - $223,500.00 The pay range above is the general base pay range for a successful candidate in the state listed. The successful candidate’s actual pay will be based on various factors, such as work location, qualifications, and experience, so the actual starting pay may be above or below this range. At T-Mobile, employees in regular, non-temporary roles are eligible for an annual bonus or periodic sales incentive or bonus, based on their role. Most Corporate employees are eligible for a year-end bonus based on company and/or individual performance and which is set at a percentage of the employee’s eligible earnings in the prior year. Certain positions in Customer Care are eligible for monthly bonuses based on individual and/or team performance, while Retail and Business Sales roles are eligible for monthly or quarterly sales incentives.
