The Principal Engineer will be responsible to providing planning, oversight and technical expertise for work performed on government contracts at Columbia Fuel Fabrication Facility.
This role will be a Hybrid/Mobile working arrangement (3+ days/week in the Columbia plant office).
You Day to Day:
- Provide technical input during the proposal process.
- Prepare and review technical work instructions (procedures) for execution on the shop floor.
- Plan and procure parts needed to perform shop work.
- Raise and resolve technical issues or logistical challenges encountered throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support and provide technical oversight for floor operators performing maintenance work.
- Support and provide technical oversight for suppliers.
- Process necessary paperwork for non-conformances encountered during work.
- Work effectively as part of a cross-functional team including quality engineering, supply chain management, project management, and customers.
- Gain working knowledge of area equipment
- Manage customer inventory
- Support management with planning and forecasting
- Support the planning and implementation of current and future capital investment projects
- Work closely with customer to assist program in future planning.
- Work closely with suppliers and manufacturing team to ensure smooth execution of fabrication campaigns.
Who You Are:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Nuclear)
- 5 years of relevant experience
- Requires exceptional communication skills.
- Ability to work directly with customer.
- Strong technical skills to interpret drawings, specification, drawing.
- Ability to read and understand and contractual requirements.
- Knowledge of FAR clauses a plus.
- This position requires US Citizenship and either current access authorization (clearance) at the Q level, or the ability to obtain and maintain such clearance. Clearance must be maintained without interruption in order to meet position requirements.
