Principal - Health Policy SME
We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Health Policy expert to join our delivery team as a Principal, Health Policy SME.
The Principal, Health Policy SME will be part of a multi-disciplinary digital services team working in partnership to deliver digital products, services, and solutions that are compliant with different healthcare regulations and enable users to perform their jobs successfully. The Principal, Health Policy SME reports to the Account Director, Healthcare and works closely with the Director of Business Development, Healthcare. Together, they develop and implement strategies for delivering healthcare solutions that achieve our partner's goals.
In this role, you’ll help translate laws, regulations, policies, and the needs of our partners into tangible information that will enable our delivery teams to create products and services that address their needs and solve their problems. You’ll be an integral part of the team as strategies are developed into proposals and position papers that enable us to showcase our ability to solve the problems of organizations we want to work with. As a member of Coforma’s healthcare focus area, you’ll aim to improve healthcare and access to healthcare services for all citizens by centering those in need, breaking down policies and processes, and leveraging technology. Working with Coforma’s Account Directors, you’ll help inform customer insights and map the healthcare ecosystem of customer needs in the federal, state, commercial, and non-profit sectors.
The ideal candidate for this role is a team player with experience working at the intersection of policy and the delivery of technical services. You’ll directly support the delivery of our programs and the creation of proposals and sales artifacts that positively impact people’s access to healthcare services. Your expertise in translating policy into plain language and supporting the creation of compelling proposal content, paired with your ability to establish trust with our partners in a fast-paced environment will be critical to your success at Coforma.
$170,980 to $183,340 Annual Salary + Benefits + Growth Potential
Placement within this range will be based on the competency level of the candidate. An offer will be made at one of the following tiers:
Tier 1: $170,980 — Meets minimum qualification/experience requirements. Beyond onboarding, will need additional guidance and training to perform key responsibilities of the role.
Tier 2: $177,984 — Experienced and fully-competent. Beyond onboarding, can independently perform key responsibilities of the role.
Tier 3: $183,340 — Highly-experienced and can perform all responsibilities of the role at a higher level than expected once onboarding is completed.
To honor our company-wide equitable pay system, the posted salary range and corresponding tier salaries are non-negotiable.

What You'll Do (Responsibilities)
Apply your expert and working knowledge of federal health laws, policies, and regulations to:
Provide technical solutions at the proposal phase, and
Guide and advise delivery teams, enabling them to translate agency rules into products, services, and solutions
Proactively anticipate and evaluate policy level risks and provide guidance to the team to mitigate unintended outcomes
Serve as the primary point of contact related to Health Policy for our partners and teams
Understand the team’s objectives, systems, and capabilities in order to make decisions about project priorities and help resolve issues
Work with the teams’ leadership to report risks, successes, progress, backlogs, and failures to stakeholders in a timely, clear, and efficient manner
Translate complex Health Policy and regulation into plain, actionable information
Research and develop guidance that enables the team to execute on their mission, and our partners to provide guidance and oversight in a timely manner
Embed with healthcare project teams to support roadmap development for healthcare projects and advise on all relevant laws, regulations, and interconnectedness of agency priorities
Work with the contracting team to understand healthcare contract requirements and policies and actively problem solve with delivery teams to ensure compliance
Track trends in policy to help inform the company’s long-term strategic plans and ensure Coforma is positioned to be responsive to current and emerging trends
Who You Are (Requirements)
15+ years of professional work experience with a minimum of 10 years of experience in Health Policy roles
Minimum of 7 years of experience working with Medicaid or Medicare data or products including utilization management, claims processing, and or pharmacy rebates
Proven, expert-level ability to interpret and communicate policies, regulations, and laws in the healthcare space
Expert-level ability to provide actionable information learned and distilled from complex policies, regulations, and laws in the healthcare space
Experience with equity-focused healthcare delivery, and can offer strategic support and technical assistance to healthcare project teams
Passion for learning, ability to create and adapt systems, and ability to collaborate with creative, technical, and business stakeholders and team members
Experience working cross-functionally with strategists, product designers, developers, communications, and other disciplines
Experience managing milestones, dependencies, communications, and stakeholder expectations
Strong organizational skills and keen attention to detail
Ability to communicate clearly in writing and orally (whether verbally or through assistive technologies/aids) to increase transparency
Strong competency in situational awareness, situational leadership, and conflict mitigation and resolution
Ability to nurture relationships to help drive prioritization across multiple projects and create ecosystems of success
A proactive, empathetic, persistent, positive, and growth mindset
Full-time resident of the contiguous United States (must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. now and in the future without sponsorship)

Preferred Qualifications and Experience
Master’s degree in Public Health, Policy, or Administration
Experience writing or editing requirements for government proposals
2+ years of experience working on a remote team or remote freelancing
Prior professional services, government, federal, or private consulting experience
Experience working within a drug data ecosystem relating to the administration of benefits by the Federal government

Internet — will prioritize and maintain access to strong, reliable internet for the remote nature of our work, except when on vacation or holiday
Security — will keep the highest security practices to ensure privacy and security of Coforma and client information given the nature of our work, even when on vacation
