Who we're looking for
Toyota's CSRM group is looking for team members who are passionate about technology and interested in joining a collaborative and highly motivated team as a Principal Engineer II - Product Cybersecurity Group.
The primary responsibility of this role is as an expert, lead projects & anticipate/prevent problems before they arise within your role as a technical leader & cybersecurity expert in developing next-generation end-to-end vehicle ecosystem.
Reporting to the Product Cybersecurity Engineering Senior Manager, the person in this role will join the Product Cybersecurity Group to deploy security solutions for applications in a more connected vehicle environment.
What you'll be doing
  • Create new methodologies & design patterns as a cybersecurity technical leader in vehicle ecosystem research, design, & development in pursuit of Connected, Autonomous, Shared, and Electrified mobility solutions and digital services.
  • Provide value-added research in cybersecurity and analysis to take a "whole company" approach to identifying opportunities, creating solutions, and advising management as a strategic business partner.
  • Lead projects to prevent problems before they arise, while providing regular metrics/reporting to measure the efficiency and effectiveness of the services, facilitate appropriate resource allocation, and increase the overall maturity of security capabilities.

What you bring
  • Extensive years of relevant experience.
    • Bachelor's degree or higher, in Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Cybersecurity subject matter expert with hands-on experience in software development and technical leadership for systems, software, or hardware engineering in support of creating products that follow the secure-by-design engineering processes.
    • Hands-on experience and technical understanding of modern development enablers such as: DevSecOps, GIT, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
    • Hands-on development experience and technical understanding with cloud and/or embedded programming and languages such as: Assembly, C, C++, C#, Rust, Java, Go, Python, R, JavaScript, or other related languages.
    • Experience designing end-to-end systems that have both an embedded system & connected (e.g., cloud, mobile) component.
    • Deep domain knowledge expertise with relevant cybersecurity defensive & offensive technologies/methodologies for IOT products at scale.
    • Proficient knowledge in cybersecurity architectural concepts to incorporate within security assessments, such as: Hardware Security, Software Security, Runtime Security, Secure Boot, Secure Storage, Secure Communications, Secure Debug, Secure Reprogramming, Crypto, Key Management, Secure Peripherals, Secure Primitives.
  • Leadership experience guiding projects from development through the implementation, and acting as a strategic business partner to Managers and Executives.
    • Advanced interpersonal and communications skills with the ability to create and present concepts and recommendations to management.
    • Initiative to identify and improve aspects of the business - policies, processes, procedures, technologies, reports, and templates as needed.
  • Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking) for business and technical discussions.

Added bonus if you have
  • Experience with one or more of the following industries: law enforcement, defense, intelligence community, automotive, manufacturing, and software.
  • Experience with compliance regulations/laws, security frameworks, and standards (e.g., ISO/SAE 21434, NIST, HIPAA, ISO, COBIT, OWASP, ITIL, etc.).
  • OSCP, SANS/GIAC, CISSP, or other similar professional certifications.
  • Fluent in Japanese (reading, writing, speaking) for business and technical discussions.
  • Advanced degree in Cyber Security Management or related disciplines.
