Who we're looking for
Toyota's CSRM group is looking for team members who are passionate about technology and interested in joining a collaborative and highly motivated team as a Principal Engineer I - Product Cybersecurity Group.
The primary responsibility of this role is as an expert, lead projects & act as a strategic business partner to managers and executives via your role as a technical leader & cybersecurity expert in developing next-generation end-to-end vehicle ecosystem.
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Product Security Engineering, the person in this role will join the Product Cybersecurity Group to deploy security solutions for applications in a more connected vehicle environment.
What you'll be doing
  • Make contributions to management & solve complex problems, via providing technical cybersecurity knowledge for the vehicle ecosystem from development through implementation that have measurable impacts on company innovation.
  • Take a "whole company" approach to identifying opportunities, creating solutions, and advising management as a strategic business partner.
  • Navigate through variable situations, utilizing analytical, interpretive, and constructive thinking for a measurable and continuous impact on vehicle ecosystem cybersecurity and company progress.
  • Expected to face variable situations/issues that require analytical, interpretive, and constructive thinking.
  • Execute the roles and responsibilities of a technical program manager across multiple projects and teams independently with very little oversight required.

What you bring
  • Extensive years of relevant cybersecurity architecture experience.
    • Bachelor's degree or higher, in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Cybersecurity subject matter expert with hands-on experience in software development and technical leadership for systems, software, or hardware engineering in support of creating products that follow the secure-by-design engineering processes.
    • Expert within cybersecurity for IOT ecosystem for end-to-end cybersecurity architecture from embedded system to cloud to mobile & interconnectivity between them.
    • Strong experience in IOT cybersecurity knowledge with hands-on experience via cybersecurity design, cybersecurity testing, and cybersecurity software development.
    • Competence as a practitioner and familiarity with relevant cybersecurity defensive & offensive technologies/methodologies for IOT products at scale.
  • Leadership experience guiding projects from development through implementation and acting as a strategic business partner to management.
    • Advanced interpersonal and communications skills with the ability to create and present concepts and recommendations to management.
    • Initiative to identify and improve aspects of the business - policies, processes, procedures, technologies, reports, and templates as needed.
  • Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking) for business and technical discussions.

Added bonus if you have
  • Experience with one or more of the following industries: law enforcement, defense, intelligence community, automotive, manufacturing, software,
  • Experience with compliance regulations/laws, security frameworks and standards (e.g., ISO/SAE 21434, NIST, HIPAA, ISO, COBIT, OWASP, ITIL, etc.).
  • OSCP, SANS/GIAC, CISSP, or other similar professional certifications.
  • Fluent in Japanese (reading, writing, speaking) for business and technical discussions.
  • Advanced degree in Cyber Security Management or related disciplines.
