This position is a hybrid role requiring employees to work from our headquarters location in Seattle, WA or San Francisco, CA every Tuesday and Wednesday, and remote all other days.

The Redfin Brand Design team is looking for an innovative and inspired Principal Brand Designer to scale our talented Brand Design team. You are an experienced designer who is passionate about design, advertising, and brand. You are able to respond to creative briefs with fresh ideas and strategic design system level thinking. You are comfortable leading brainstorms and collaborating with a team of designers and writers as well as working with a network of product designers, motion designers, photographers, and marketers to deliver exceptional brand experiences to be seen by millions of consumers nationwide. This role reports into the Head of Brand Design.
Day to Day
As a Principal Brand Designer at Redfin, you'll develop creative across digital platforms, print, out of home and social channels. You'll collaborate with partners and stakeholders in Product, Marketing, Communications/PR, Recruiting, and our Real Estate Operations org. You'll work with writers, product managers, engineers, motion designers, video editors, and other Brand Designers daily. Responsibilities will include project research, assisting in strategy and concept development, producing sketches and wireframes, and executing final designs and deliverables.
Requirements

  • Knowledge of design principles related to design systems, brand, marketing, with an understanding of UX design, digital product design, information hierarchy, user-flow, and typography
  • Create, inspire, and sustain a culture of excellence with a focus on craft and quality
  • Effectively develop cross functional relationships with product and marketing teams to develop strategy and insights that inform compelling creative executions while balancing the needs of stakeholders
  • Ability to present creative concepts effectively to senior executives
  • Ability to take ownership and responsibility in leading projects from creative development through to execution
  • Experience bringing clarity to complex, sometimes ambiguous projects and processes
  • Willingness and ability to be reactive, flexible, and resourceful under tight deadlines
  • Comfortable directing other designers, creative partners, and freelancers to execute at a high level

Basic Qualifications
  • 8+ years of relevant professional experience driving compelling creative strategy and execution at an agency or in-house creative team.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience
  • Expert in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, AfterEffects and Premiere Pro) and Figma

Preferred Qualifications
  • A portfolio demonstrating brand and identity development scaling across multiple marketing/brand/advertising touch points.
  • Able to identify opportunities for product enhancements that would bring greater brand expression and elevate the quality of our work
  • Can explain the "whys" behind decisions and direction and can represent it with conviction
  • Experience in photography and video art direction and production
  • Experience in creating brand guidelines and toolkits
  • Experience in luxury marketing
  • Illustration chops

The compensation information below is provided in compliance with job posting disclosure requirements in Colorado, New York, New Jersey, Washington, and California.
Base Pay Range: $117,700.00 - 201,700.00. Actual base pay will depend on varying circumstances, including the position, location, individual qualifications, market finances, and other operational business needs. Depending on the position, compensation may also include commissions, bonuses, and equity.
