As a vital member of our team, you'll have the chance to work on a challenging project where we'll depend on your expertise, intuition, and leadership with planning, directing, and monitoring all aspects of projects. You'll be considered a key member of our team and be tasked with developing the civil design for transportation (highway/roadway/rail) related projects using local (State, County or City) or AASHTO standards at both conceptual and final design levels. 

Using your experience, you'll also do the following:

  • Provide oversight and assembly of a PS&E package.
  • Conduct, plan, schedule, or coordinate civil engineering work.  Also, participate in the design and ongoing progress of a project, including the coordination of the project with City, County, and State officials, and other outside agencies.
  • Review plans, prepare or review technical specifications, contract documents, and estimates.
  • Develop and mentor staff. 
  • Train junior staff on CADD procedures and project file setup.
  • Promote Jacobs quality control practices through all phases of design and plans production.

Typical salary range for this position is $93,700 to $164,000 and is commensurate with experience relative to the position.

  • Course study in Civil Engineering
  • At least 10 years of progressive highway design or public agency design experience
  • Experience in preparing large multi-discipline PS&E packages
  • Demonstrated experience with CADD program file set up, configurations, and preferences
  • Experience with project collaboration software (e.g., ProjectWise)
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare plans, specifications, estimates, studies, proposals and/or reports
  • Working knowledge of federal and state design guidelines
     

Ideally, here's what you'll also have:

  • Experience with Microstation/Inroads and/or Civil3D
  • Experience developing and modeling 3D design surfaces is preferred
  • Ability to coordinate all phases of a project is very desirable
  • Experience working on large DOT projects and Design-Build projects
