The Preventive Maintenance Assistant Manager is responsible for developing and managing the preventive maintenance program for production equipment, as well as Maintenance training. In addition, this role will manage the Tool Crib (spare parts) and Kaizen (machine shop) teams. This dynamic role will require a problem-solving mindset, consensus-building skills, and perseverance to drive projects to completion. The Assistant Manager will report to the Manufacturing Engineering Maintenance Senior Manager.
Supervisory Responsibilities
The PM Assistant Manager will have direct supervision of the PM, Kaizen, and Tool Crib Group Leaders.
Main Duties / Responsibilities
• Train and develop group leaders for the PM, Kaizen, and Tool Crib teams
• Lead by serving - go the floor to check the status of preventive maintenance activity, take ownership of the Maintenance training curriculum by actively participating in training classes
• Continuously improve the Maintenance training program by introducing new methods or technology
• Manage the preventive maintenance program for production equipment. Ensure a standardized process is followed for scheduling, coordinating, and completing PM's.
• Manage the Kaizen team (machine shop), driving a culture of innovation and safety
• Manage the Tool Crib team, ensuring standard ordering and stocking processes are followed for spare parts and production consumables
• Drive a culture of problem-solving and thorough root cause analysis among your teams - don't settle for "good enough"
• Responsible for managing the budgets of Preventive Maintenance, Kaizen, and Tool Crib
• Drive the improvement of safety, quality, productivity, and indirect material cost
• Maintain a productive relationship with the Japanese coordinators and establish a culture of teamwork among both AWTX and Japanese team members
Required Qualification / Education
• Associate's Degree or higher
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a Preventive Maintenance or similar role in a manufacturing environment
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a supervisory or managerial role
• Experience applying root cause analysis to solve problems
• Experience managing projects in a manufacturing environment
• Experience with precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, gage pins, gage blocks, thread gages, dial indicators, etc.
• Ability to read mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical drawings
• Ability to create and give formal presentations to senior leadership
Desired Skills / Characteristics
• Prior experience with PLC's, CNC machining, and robot maintenance
• Prior experience with machining or welding equipment
• Prior experience managing spare part inventory
• Problem-solving mindset, instinct to go see the source of an issue
