Description

Senior Press Operator 

Shift: 1st Shift | 7:30am - 3:30pm (ability to work overtime as needed)

Starting Pay: dependent on experience!

Brief Description: Operate hydraulic and mechanical presses to produce high tolerance parts used for the assembly of MARSHALLTOWN product according to specification. Schedules, set-Ups, and operates the various presses within the Press Department: Cincinnati, Safan, Bliss, Minster, and Komatsu Press as well as Murata Turret.  

Responsibilities: 

  • Operates the Presses within the department according to standard operating procedures. 
  • Run, monitor, and adjust the press lines to achieve quality specifications to account for variables such as new tools, material, etc. 
  • Test and verify quality of parts utilizing various measurement tools before, during, and after production according to the procedures. 
  • Research breakdown causes and makes the necessary repairs. 
  • Drive improvements in efficiency, quality, and safety. 
  • Manage inventory of both raw material and finished goods, packing and handling effectively and efficiently. 
  • Takes receipts and makes inventory adjustments, as required. 
  • Operates Powered Industrial Truck to load coils, dies, etc.  
  • Ability to analyze and troubleshoot tooling conditions and escalate issues to tool room and/or maintenance, as required. 
  • Document and communicate issues to stakeholders. 
  • Maintain the order and cleanliness of the workplace and press lines. 
  • Supports training of other operators within the department. 
  • Actively ensure that all safety requirements and procedures are met at all times. 
  • Load raw materials (coils, straight stock, etc) to feed the presses.
  • Other duties and project work as assigned.  
Qualifications

Requirements: 

  • 3+ years' experience in a manufacturing environment operating, setting up, and troubleshooting Presses, required.  
  • 3+ years' experience with progressive dies, required. 
  • Must be proficient at reading technical drawings and blueprints. 
  • Good knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and electricity preferred. 
  • Meticulous attention to detail and focus on quality. 
  • High degree of problem-solving skills, especially in mechanical aptitude. 
  • Basic computers knowledge and skills. 
  • Ability to calculate, reason, problem solve, and read and write in English.  
  • Must pass a Setup Operator qualification test. 
  • Frequent standing, walking, gripping, and reaching as well as occasional bending, twisting, kneeling, climbing, pushing/pulling, and reaching above shoulder level.  
  • Lifting up to 40 lbs without assistance.
  • Ability to work overtime, as needed.
