PCHC's Patient Communications Center, a comprehensive call center supporting multiple PCHC clinics, is looking for a Prescription Refill Specialist I. This dynamic role will approve medication refill requests, making the process more efficient for our patients. Schedule: Full-time, Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5pm (Remote work possible after successful completion of 6 month training period and productivity assessment in Bangor, Maine, and is eligible per PCHC's Telecommuting Policy.)
Patient Communications Center Mission Statement: Listen to individuals and provide exceptional patient-centered service and appropriate resources to better health outcomes for our patient and the community, one phone call at a time.
Highlights of the position:

  • Provides high quality customer service to our patients by demonstrating kindness, effective communication, advocacy, and follow-through.
  • Monitors, reviews, coordinates and approves Prescription Refill requests efficiently and appropriately, in accordance with PCHC's Prescription Refill Standing Orders policy.
  • Liaisons between patient and clinical teams, ensuring communication is clear, accurate, and timely, and ensuring patient feels respected and heard.
  • Is educated on PCHC policies, practices, and providers, as well as processes for records, prior authorizations, and more. Effectively communicates and answers patient inquiries of all types to streamline the process for patients.
  • Is a good steward of patient health information, maintaining strict confidentiality in accordance with PCHC policies, HIPAA, and 42CFR.
  • Demonstrates a high awareness of medical office procedures and terminology, CPT and ICD-10 codes, Medicare, Medicaid, and other insurances.
  • Collaborates with all teams to identify ways to improve patient experience.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • 3 years in a medical professional setting required
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Associates degree in healthcare related field preferred.
  • Experience in appointment scheduling and managing patient phone calls preferred.
  • Call center environment experience preferred.
