Summary
BANC is State of CT Licensed Childcare Center that provides Afterschool Programming to students attending New Lebanon Elementary School. BANC is an Afterschool Program that dedicates itself to the surrounding community by nurturing children in their social and emotional growth and provides them with an opportunity to explore the world through play and interaction with other children. The program serves over 80 children in grades: Preschool, Kindergarten, First Grade, Second Grade and Third Grade who attend New Lebanon Elementary School.BANC strives to support education and decrease the achievement gap by providing educational enrichment programs such as: homework and reading help, arts and crafts, reading program, gym, dramatic play, and educational opportunities.
BANC Preschool Afterschool Program provides children with a structured, developmentally appropriate program that uses play and exploration to foster learning.The preschool Afterschool Program provides opportunities for growth and development through play in the areas of communication, cognition, self-management, fine and gross motor skill and social-emotional skills.
Season: Week of August 21, 2023 through the end of June 2024 (school year position)
Applicants must be available to work Monday-Friday from 2:00pm-6:00pm
Duties
Establish and implement developmentally appropriate preschool programming for children between the ages of 3-4 years in the BANC Afterschool Program.
Plan and implement activities consistent with the curriculum guide, resources and training provided.
Develop and maintain a safe, clean, learn/play environment and ensure the well-being and safety of the children in their care.
Plan and implement a culturally appropriate program and activities to meet the educational, emotional, social, physical, recreational, intellectual and psychological needs of the children in the program.
Collaborate with New Lebanon School professionals to create and support developmental assessments for each child to determine the child's strengths and areas in which each child may need assistance.
Supervise and assist in training the assistant teachers (paras) directly working with preschool children.
Provide tools and resources for children to use and explore during learn and play activities.
Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the interests and learning styles of each child.
Provide supervision of preschool age children that attend New Lebanon Elementary School.
Communicate with parents and members of the community.
Provide a weekly and monthly schedule of activities
Collaborate with Director, assistant teachers (paras), children, volunteers, parents, program specialists and New Lebanon staff to coordinate programming.
Plan and prepare supplies for projects and development of classroom activities.
Maintain confidentiality of students and families.
Ensure that all state and local health department regulations are being followed and maintained.
Follow all BANC policies and procedures set forth in the BANC Staff handbook.
Provide for the physical needs for children within the parameters of the job (e.g. toileting and lifting).
Attend in-service trainings and other trainings as required.
Requirements
High school diploma or GED
Associate degree in Early Childhood or a related field preferred (Bachelor’s or Master’s preferred)
Must meet the qualifications for State of Connecticut approval as a Head Teacher
Minimum age of 20 years old to meet State of Connecticut, Office of Early Childhood regulations
Must have two years of childcare experience or related field.
Evidence of knowledge of preschool experience and how to implement it.
Experience working with preschool age children preferably in a preschool setting
Knowledge of child development and early education theories and practices preferred
Applicants will be required to complete CPR and First Aid Training
Applicants will be required to complete a State of CT background check and fingerprinting
