POSITION SUMMARY

Provide students with appropriate instruction, learning activities and experiences designed to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical and social growth.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Develop and implement lesson plans that ful?ll the requirements of district’s curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
  • Prepare lessons that re?ect accommodations for di?erences in student learning styles.
  • Present subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.
  • Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that re?ect accommodation for individual needs of students assigned.
  • Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
  • Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP).
  • Cooperate with other members of sta? for planning and implementing instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.
  • Plan and supervise purposeful assignments of teacher aide(s) and volunteer(s).
  • Assist students in analyzing and improving study methods and habits.
  • Consistently assess student achievement through formal and informal testing and use results to plan instructional activities.
  • Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned. Sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal.
  • Present positive role model for students, support mission of school district.
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students. Manage student behavior and administer discipline according to board policies, administrative regulations and IEPs.
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Assist in selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
  • Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers.
  • Use acceptable communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
  • Participate in the district sta? development program.
  • Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible.
  • Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
  • Compile, maintain, and ?le all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.
  • Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on sta? committees as required.
  • Articulate the district’s mission and goals in areas of assigned responsibilities to the community and solicit its support in realizing the mission.
  • Demonstrate awareness of district/community needs and initiate activities to meet identi?ed needs.
  • Demonstrate the use of appropriate and e?ective techniques for community and parent involvement.
  • Maintain regular attendance.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Valid Texas teaching certi?cate with required endorsements: Early Childhood.

OHER POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into focus; judge distance (close and distant); reach with arms extended and use hands to manipulate the keyboard, smart board and other classroom technology.
  • Ability to lift/carry up to 25 pounds, including but not limited to: books, paper and instructional materials/supplies.
  • This position requires frequent standing, walking, sitting, bending, kneeling and/or the ability to be mobile.
  • Ability to travel throughout the district and city as needed by means of personal/private or public transportation in compliance with the state’s department of motor vehicle and/or public transportation laws.

EXPECTED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to build and sustain positive, collaborative relationships both internally and externally
  • Knowledge of federal, state and local educational goals, objectives, accountability and compliance
  • Knowledge of learning theory, program planning, curriculum and technology integration in the classroom and management of instructional programs
  • Knowledge of statutory and regulatory requirements in area of responsibility
  • Ability to interpret laws, rules, and policies
  • Ability to plan and present information to a variety of audiences
  • Ability to facilitate various size groups using facilitative leadership skills
  • Skills in written and oral communication, planning, and organization
  • Knowledge of current trends, methods, research, and technology in area of responsibility
  • In-depth knowledge of assigned program and service area
  • Ability to collect, analyze and interpret data.
