We are seeking a highly skilled Power System Forecasting Specialist to join our team. As the Power System Forecasting Specialist, you will be responsible for the development and execution of Power System forecast strategies for system loads, renewable resource forecasting, distributed resources, and ancillary services.
Candidates must live in a commutable location to the office right outside Sacramento. There is flexibility for this to be a hybrid or remote work schedule but coming into the office for team meetings.

We are seeking a highly skilled Power System Forecasting Specialist to join our team. As the Power System Forecasting Specialist, you will be responsible for the development and execution of Power System forecast strategies for system loads, renewable resource forecasting, distributed resources, and ancillary services.

Responsibilities:
- Manage load, weather, and renewable resource data sources
- Organize and provide timely maintenance of databases housing historic real-time, hourly, and daily loads, weather, renewable resources, renewable generator outages, economic, demographic, and other pertinent data
- Develop and implement forecasting tools and interfaces using computer programming
- Improve methods and procedures for collecting and processing demand, energy, weather, and economic data by analyzing historical and forecasted electric demand, generation, and energy trends and related data
- Analyze Numerical Weather Prediction Models and translate forecasted information to daily ISO/EIM needs for renewable and load forecasting
- Develop hypotheses to improve forecasting accuracy for load and renewables
- Provide meteorological insight and forecasting support to Operations and other internal groups as necessary
- Provide technical leadership on all aspects of onboarding and validating variable energy resources
- Act as project lead to coordinate the design, analysis, and testing of forecast accuracy
- Coordinate project efforts of ISO business units, vendors, market participants, and others as appropriate
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics, Economics, Data Science, Meteorology
- 5+ years of experience in Power System Forecasting, renewable energy forecasting, and neural network modeling
- Experience with load forecasting, renewable forecasting, and variable energy resources
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights
- Experience with statistical, algorithmic, mining, and visualization techniques
- Knowledge of meteorological data and models
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage cross-functional teams
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- US Citizen or Active Green Card Holder
