Postdoc Fellow - Lymphoma-Myeloma - Research

The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is seeking a highly motivated candidate to focus on bioinformatics analysis of multi-omic datasets from patient cohorts and controlled experiments to provide biological insights. This is a full-time postdoctoral research position in the laboratory of Dr. Michael Wang.
Dr. Wang's lab is part of the Department of Lymphoma and Myeloma, and is well funded through multiple funding mechanisms, including two NIH R01s and an R21, two CPRIT grants, and two Leukemia and Lymphoma Society grants. The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is the nation's #1 ranked cancer center, located within the Texas Medical Center (home to 8 academic and research institutes and 21 hospitals). LEARNING OBJECTIVES
The fellow is expected to be proficient in analyzing high-throughput sequencing data (e.g., genomics, transcriptomics, epigenomics) relevant to lymphoma research utilizing bioinformatics tools and software packages. The fellow will master statistical methods and machine learning algorithms for identifying biomarkers, genetic variants, and dysregulated pathways associated with lymphoma subtypes and progression, and enhance their skills in data visualization and interpretation and contribute to the development and optimization of bioinformatics pipelines and workflows. The fellow will be conducting research that integrates a range of cutting-edge experimental and computational methodologies, including functional genomics, single cell/spatial multi-omics, data mining, machine learning, and mathematical modeling; the overarching aim is to translate these findings into clinically significant advances.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Candidates must be interested in focusing on the integration and analysis of multi-omic datasets from patient cohorts and controlled experiments providing biological insights. Individuals with a PhD degree in computational biology, bioinformatics, genomics, statistical genetics, genome science, or a related field are encouraged to apply. A strong computational background, proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g., R, Python, Perl C, C++, JAVA), and knowledge of biostatistics are required. Experience with next generation sequencing and/or ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq, Hi-C, or other large-scale epigenomics data analysis is highly desirable. Excellent ability in visualization of genomic data is highly valued. A good understanding of cancer biology, cell signaling pathways, or drug response mechanisms is also preferred. POSITION INFORMATION
MD Anderson follows the NIH stipend levels as outlined by the Kirchstein - NRSA. This full-time trainee position will provide a salary between $56,484 to $68,604, dependent upon the years of postgraduate experience.
