Postdoctoral fellow at University of North Dakota, School of Medicine and Health Sciences, in the Geriatrics Department Laboratory. The primary focus of the laboratory is to determine the key regulators of stress and resiliency in humans, focused on the T cell stress response. On-going projects include preclinical and clinical studies utilizing in vivo and in vitro models which study how normal aging, longevity and long Covid impact the heat shock axis. One key goal is to discover the efficacy of plant medicinal such as resveratrol and curcumin in reconstituting the age –dependent decline in HSF1 activation.
Successful candidates work closely with the primary investigator (Dr. Jurivich) and faculty collaborators (Drs. Brown-Borg and Mathur) as week as with trainees from UND. Incumbents work independently and collaboratively with all the members of the research team, prepare peer-reviewed publications, grants, and conference presentations.
This position is a twelve (12) month, non-tenure track, special appointment, with University of North Dakota (UND) School of Medicine and Health Sciences (SMHS), Department of Geriatrics.
Duties & ResponsibilitiesAssist in Geriatric research and education.
Perform experiments on longevity and the aging stress response relative to Alzheimer’s Disease.
Complete data analysis of ongoing research on aging.
Write research papers on findings stress and aging.
Submit grant proposals.
Supervise students and junior lab members.
- Ph.D. in Immunology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology or any of the related fields in Biological Sciences.
- One-year experience in standard molecular, biochemical and immunological techniques, mammalian cell culture-based assays.
- Demonstrated strong writing and oral communication skills.
- Successful completion of a Standard Criminal History Background Check

Preferred Qualifications- Experience in cell culture skills, cell imaging techniques, flow cytometry, and transcription factor analysis.
- Strong Immunology and Molecular Biology background.
