Primary Responsibilities:

• Underwrite and document modifications and annual reviews of existing credit facilities
• Spread borrower and guarantor financial statements, test and monitor financial covenants, perform collateral analysis, and prepare market assessments
• Prepare clear and concise credit presentations for annual reviews, including financial analysis, collateral assessment, risk and mitigant identification, and recommendations for current risk rating
• Update loan metrics and risk ratings accurately and timely
• May also perform credit underwriting on new requests by creating credit underwriting memos which analyze the credit request, the borrower, financial and credit information, repayment sources, risks and mitigation, collateral, and compliance with applicable regulations and policies
• Be knowledgeable of policies, guidelines, procedures, regulations and systems applicable to the credit function
• Ensure that loan files and documentation are complete
• Assist with timely reporting and analysis of financial information collected from borrowers.
• Assist in training and mentoring less experienced credit team members

Required Qualifications:

• 4-year college degree in business, finance, accounting, or economics
• Formal credit training and at least 5 years of experience analyzing business and personal financial statements for loan applications
• 3 years of experience managing a Commercial Real Estate loan portfolio using both traditional underwriting and models
• Knowledge of loan documentation, lending laws, loan transaction procedures, portfolio monitoring, and loan servicing
• Ability to manage third party vendors and geographically remote borrowers
• Ability to make significant financial decisions and to identify, assess and manage risk affecting loans

Preferred Qualifications:

• Advanced degree in business, finance, or accounting
• Experience working in credit or lending role with a commercial bank
• Experience working out problem loans
• Formal commercial credit training program
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Detail oriented with strong organizational skills
