Job Responsibility:
- Monitoring vessel movements: Tracking the arrival and departure of ships, and maintaining updated records of their movements within the port.
- Coordinating cargo operations: Assigning berths to incoming vessels, coordinating loading and unloading activities, and ensuring efficient use of port resources.
- Communication and coordination: Serving as a central point of contact between the port authority, shipping companies, truck drivers, and other relevant parties to ensure smooth operations and timely execution of tasks.
- Managing schedules and logistics: Planning and organizing the movement of cargo, ensuring optimal utilization of available resources, and minimizing delays.
- Ensuring compliance: Adhering to port regulations, safety standards, and security protocols, and ensuring that all activities are carried out in accordance with applicable laws and guidelines.
- Problem-solving and troubleshooting: Resolving issues and challenges that may arise during cargo operations, such as equipment failures, delays, or last-minute changes to shipping plans.
- Document management: Maintaining accurate records and documentation related to vessel movements, cargo handling, and other relevant information.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED
- 3 years Intermodal dispatch, operations and customer service experience
- Thorough knowledge of harbor and steamship line requirements
- TMS: Profit tools - Port Pro is a plus
- Knowledge of all terminal websites and how to create appointments and add/change client schedules when needed
- Knowledge of all laws affecting drivers and service-related issues (hours of service, size and weight limits, etc.)
- Familiar with office software in word and excel.
- Highly motivated individual with attention to detail.
- Good written and verbal communication skills (documentation, communication with peers, supervising, etc.)
- Ability to follow instructions and complete required training.
- Ability to work independently and/or as a team member.
- Able to work in fast passed environment
- Bilingual in Mandarin or Spanish is plus but not required.
- Schedule: Monday to Friday 8:30am to 5pm.
