- High School Diploma/GED Required
- A minimum of 18 months experience in a clinical setting.
- Previous one on one experience with surgeon/s requiredRequires strong organizational skills
- Must be able to function under pressure while maintaining professionalism
- Familiarity to CPT and ICD-10 coding
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with providers, patients, and internal/external stakeholders.
- Manage complex provider schedules including OR schedules, ASC schedules and clinic schedules.
- Accuracy in scheduling is paramount in performanceAbility to schedule complex surgical procedures (et. al. total joint replacement, complex cardio-thoracic procedures, robotic cases, minimally invasive, gynecologic oncology and breast oncology, etc.)
- Ensure prior authorizations/certifications/referrals are in place PRIOR to procedure
- Responsible for collaborating all preoperative studies such as labs, diagnostic studies, physician consults, and clearances for upcoming surgeries and procedures.
- Based on surgeon instruction, determine personnel/equipment required and coordinate with OR / ASC staff.
- Must be highly skilled in verbal communication, problem solving, prioritization and organization.
- The Surgery Scheduler schedules all surgical procedures and assures that all the appropriate clinical and insurance coding information is collected for the surgery.
