Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Head Nurse and Patient Experience Manager to join our healthcare team. As our Head Nurse and Patient Experience Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our patients receive the highest level of care and have a positive experience throughout their healthcare journey. You will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating various aspects of patient care, collaborating with our surgeon, and implementing strategies to enhance patient satisfaction.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- At least two years of experience in a surgeon office or hospital
- Experience e-prescribing medications or calling in pharmacy requests
- Comfortable using email and interacting with Internet applications
- Knowledge of practice management, electronic health records, and word processing software
- Customer service and Patient Experience inclinations
- Good communication skills
- Neat, professional appearance
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Patient Care
- Greets patients and escorts them from the waiting room to exam room
- Obtains vitals and prepares patients to be seen by the surgeon
- Documents in the electronic health record reason for visit, health history, list of medications, allergies, family and social history
- Reviews lab results or other tests and communicates to the surgeon prior to entering patient exam room
- Accompanies surgeon in cosmetic consultations as needed
- Assists surgeon in preparing for examinations and minor procedures
- Takes pictures according to protocol as needed
- Orders medications, labs, and imaging as directed by the surgeon
- Administers medications as directed by the surgeon
- Provides skincare recommendations (services and products) to patients
Pre-Op
- Orders pre-operative tests as needed
- Responsible for ensuring that medical clearance is obtained and all ordered labs and tests are received prior to the patient’s pre-operative appointment
- Reviews pre-operative instructions and explains the surgical process to patients who are about to have surgery
- Performs patient education duties: hands out brochures, and directs patients to specific Internet sites for more information
- Performs pre-operative H&P for cosmetic patients and provides information to surgeon
- Orders implants and garments for patients undergoing surgery, as applicable
Post-Op
- Sees post-operative patients and answers questions
- Performs suture removal, drain removal, and other clinical activities as directed by the physician
- Triages postoperative patient phone calls; answers questions and determines if patients need to come in. Documents calls in patient chart
- Assists with selection of before-and-after photos for photo galleries
General
- Prepares and cleans exam rooms, including re-stocking of treatment areas
- Obtains and prepares needed equipment and supplies for exam room procedures s
- Ensures all logs are completed
- Ensures OSHA manual is up to date, and that all staff receive annual training
- Arranges for all biohazardous waste pick-up
- Acts as backup for Patient Coordinator
In-Office Operating Suite and Hospital
- Assists surgeon in the operating room(occasionally)
- Adheres to chart documentation requirements as outlined by hospital or practice guidelines
- Ensures in-office facility meets OSHA, AAAAF, and Medicare certification
- Maintains supply inventory of in-office facility
- Ensures all in-office facility personnel are properly credentialed and trained
Other
- Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations
- Maintains patient confidentiality by following the HIPAA Compliance Plan established by the practice; releases PHI in accordance with the practice's HIPAA Compliance Plan, attends regular HIPAA training, maintains data security by refusing to share computer and other passwords, and reports all identified and suspected HIPAA violations to the Privacy Officer
- Maintains detailed knowledge of EHR, practice management and other computer software as it relates to job functions
- Attends all staff meetings
- Performs all other tasks and projects assigned by the Manager or surgeons

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Graduate of accredited nursing program
- Current RN or LPN licensure maintained
- Training in Plastic Surgery nursing preferred
- Wound care experience preferred
