Asphalt Plant Loader Operator
POSITION SUMMARY:
Earle Asphalt Company has immediate opening for experienced, reliable Lowboy Driver with minimum 2 years exp. Must pass pre-employment drug test & physical and background check. Must possess a Class A CDL with clean DMV record, and DOT Medical Card. Must be familiar with safety and DOT regulations. Candidate must have experience with oversized loads and must keep vehicle operational by following operating instructions.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Loading and unloading, proper securement, and transport various types of equipment on trailers to customers jobsites.
- Experience hauling oversize loads.
- Ensure equipment being transported comply with DOT regulations.
- Operate lowboy trailer on sites including off public highways.
- Conducting all work activities in a safe manner, using appropriate PPE.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
- Heavy Equipment Experience Necessary.
- High School Diploma/GED.
- Must possess and maintain a Commercial Driver’s License Class A (CDL A)
- Successful completion of pre-employment background and drug screen.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Operate the Loader and other heavy equipment in a safe and appropriate manner.
- Perform daily maintenance and safety checks of equipment.
- Understand and follow directions from supervisors as to required work area.
- Operate Loader controls to lower and tilt bucket and drive forward to force bucket into bulk material; Move lever to raise and tilt bucket when filled, or to dump material.
- Ensure a sound understanding of the issues involving ground disturbance.
- Operate Loader on public or private roadways, maintaining proper awareness of one’s surroundings.
- Perform routine cleaning and maintenance to ensure smooth operation of the Loader.
- Train new employees in the safe and efficient operation of the Loader.
- Operate other heavy equipment and other construction related duties as required.
TRAINING & CERTIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. preferred
- Class 5 Drivers License Work Experience
- Minimum 2 to 3 years’ experience within the road construction industry
- 1 to 2 years’ experience operating a Loader is required. Technical Knowledge
- Knowledge of Loader and other heavy equipment.
- Knowledge road construction materials, road construction processes and industry requirements.
- Understanding of computerized controls and electronics.
