L.G. Everist, Inc., founded in 1876 produces and supplies sand, gravel, and quarried stone throughout the Midwest region of the United States.
JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a Plant Maintenance Mechanic and Maintenance Helper for our sand and gravel operations in the Fort Lupton and Firestone areas of Colorado. This position will be responsible for general labor and for the maintenance and repair of our aggregate processing plant equipment. Qualified candidates must meet the following requirements:
Follows all company safety policies and procedures. Acts as a champion of safety. Experience in an MSHA environment is preferred.
Two+ years of progressive experience in the maintenance of industrial and mining plant equipment.
Ability to work with or without supervision.
Ability to lead others and to make decisions as necessary to complete your job.
Ability to perform under high-stress situations.
Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
Capable of working at elevated and or tight/confined spaces.
Capable of operating hand, power, and specialty tools safely.
Self-motivated with a sense of urgency.
Produce timely work with a high-quality finish.
An attitude of continuous improvement.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills – listening, verbal, and written.
A valid driver's license with a good driving record.
EDUCATION
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is required.
DUTIES AND/OR RESPONSIBILITIES
Promotes a culture of safety. Follow Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) rules, along with local, state, and federal safety/environmental regulations.
At times, work as a laborer or ground person while the plant is running.
Ability to fabricate items using drawings and know-how to build and maintain industrial / mining equipment. Prepping for required maintenance during plant production hours.
After the plant is shut down or in need of repair:
- Complete maintenance as per the preventative maintenance schedule.
- Inspect, adjust, troubleshoot, maintain, repair and install feeders, screens, crusher cones, water and sand pumps, coarse and fine material washers, cyclones, conveyors, stackers, etc.
- Replacement of wear parts, cone liners, bearings, gearboxes, screens, sheaves, belts, etc.
- Proficient experience in using a cutting torch and welder.
- Capable of operating a man lift, skid steer, service truck-mounted crane, etc.
- Communicate findings and make recommendations to Plant Managers.
- Perform all duties in all types of weather conditions.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Work 5 to 6 days per week (Monday through Saturday). Shift start and finish times may vary.
Ability to occasionally perform physical work, including lifting up to 50 pounds, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, and grasping.
May occasionally be exposed to extreme weather conditions as well as exposure to dust, sand, gravel, diesel exhaust, etc.
