Job Description
The Plant Maintenance Manager will oversee departmental supervisors and the quality of work performed by their departments. They will oversee the installation, maintenance and repair of machinery/equipment. This includes but is not limited to physical structures, piping, electrical systems and equipment operated in an aggregate quarry plant and yard.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (including the following; other duties may be assigned)
Perform daily inspections and tests of machinery and equipment.
Access the top of the tower to change screens and screen deck.
Access incline conveyors for inspection and maintenance
Promote, execute and adhere to the companys Safety Program and encourage all employees, sub-contractors and consultants to adopt safety as a culture.
Dismantles defective machines/equipment and installs new or repaired parts as needed.
Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears and other parts of machinery as needed.
Installs and repairs electrical apparatus, such as transformers, wiring and components of machinery and equipment as needed.
Lays out, assembles, installs and maintains pipe systems for hydraulic and pneumatic equipment as needed.
Repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators and other related equipment as needed.
Repairs and maintains the physical structure of the plants and equipment.
Installs, programs and repairs automated machinery/equipment such as programmable controllers.
Operates cutting torch and welding equipment to cut, repair or fabricate parts and structures.
Work with Safety Department to investigate damage, incidents or near misses in the worksite.
Ensure proper procedures are carried out according to the Companys Safety Program.
Promote a team approach and maintain dialogue with all employees to exchange information and gather ideas.
Collaborate with any project teams on other special initiatives, as required.
Demonstrate knowledge of all applicable regulations affecting aggregate plant production, safety, environmental, state, federal and company policies.

Supervisory Responsibility

Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policies.
Ensures adherence & compliance to all company policies and procedures by department supervisors.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, hazardous chemicals and outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, extreme heat and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. The employee is regularly exposed to wet or slippery ground conditions. The employee is required to enter confined spaces and work in elevated areas requiring full protection. Employee must wear required personal protective equipment; up to and including safety vest, hard hat, ear protection, gloves and safety glasses.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Hours of work may vary but are generally Monday through Friday and occasional weekends. Shift time and total hours worked may be adjusted/vary due to work demand and seasonal requirements. Overtime is mandatory when needed.
Travel
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.
Required Education and Experience
1. High School Diploma or GED.
2. 10+ years related Plant Maintenance experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
3. 3- years experience as a supervisor/manager
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
1. Candidate must have effective communication skills in the English language in both written and verbal form.
2. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
3. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Certificates/Licenses/Registrations
1. A current, unrestricted, California Class C License is required
