Position Title: Plant Engineer Salary Ranges: $101,601 - $172,722
Responsible for the plant maintenance engineering, purchasing and replacement of plant equipment and systems, to ensure maximum production quantity and quality, while supporting the policies, goals and objectives of the company. Lead by-annual and annual permits required by the state of California.
PRINCIPAL ROLES and RESPONSIBILITIES
- Member of Plant Leadership Team.
- Lead, support and direct the Maintenance execution activities in SunnyValley Smoked Meats Facility supporting plant operations, plant utilities including Refrigeration and maintenance training.
- Align with Corporate Engineering to ensure standardization and best practice sharing of engineering processes.
- Partner with all functional departments (Operations, Procurement, QA and Shipping) to accomplish departmental KPI's
- Coordinates annual CAPEX with plant management, and execute equipment purchasing taking into consideration Safety, QA, Production, and maintenance expectations and needs are being met.
- Update CAPEX monthly spendings by project with accounting.
- Support the team in the new projects development and participate in execution with proper technical documentation, training, spare parts lists.
- Familiarize with SAP to ensure all CAPEX are updated accordingly.
- Assist the Business Development & Engineering in establishing and executing capital budgets
- Work closely with Maintenance Manager and maintenance scheduler to plan CAPEX projects installations, in a timely and orderly manner.
- Partner with EHS (Environmental Health and Safety) on safety and ergonomic requirements to all equipment and layouts
- Leads and complies with all annual EHS permits required by the state of California.
- Leads and coordinates all Fire Department Annual Inspections to ensure SVSM is complying with California fire regulations.
- Leads, coordinates and submit all City of Manteca Waste Water Division By-Annual permits and walkthroughs.
- Leads and coordinates San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District permits and requirements.
- Communicate effectively both internally and externally within JBS and with vendor.
- Lead in the development of Start Up planning with department to identify all additional labor requirements, scrap produced and start up inefficiencies.
- May perform other duties as required.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma required.
- Ten years of maintenance experience in a processing facility required. Experience in a food-manufacturing environment is preferred- More than three years of experience in management is preferred.
- Understanding of the unique equipment in a meat production plant.
- Must be able to effectively lead, coach, train, and motivate people to follow established standards. Must be able to promote collaboration and enthusiasm in their team.
- Must be able to effectively monitor performance of direct reports and provide feedback to improve performance.
- Must have effective oral and written communication skills.
- Must have the ability to successfully coach, train and follow up with team to ensure goals are met.
- Must be familiar with MS Outlook, Excel, Word and SAP.
- Extensive background in FreeOn / Glycol refrigeration, air compressor technology, variable frequency motor controls, maintenance of sanitary conditions. Job responsibilities typically require extended hours.
- Must be able to demonstrate effective people skills by interacting with others in an assertive, respectful, professional and courteous manner.
- Comply with personal hygiene standards on a daily basis.
- Supervisory skills - maintenance management through whom both direct and indirect people report, project administrative assistant and planners.
