As an Electrical Plant Engineer 1, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and reliable operation of the Battery Units, Gas Plants and associated electrical system assets. You will conduct equipment and facility inspections, process data, and monitor equipment health. You will help identify emergent issues and be responsible for managing small operating & maintenance (O&M) projects and will act as the point of contact for engineering issues and will work with both internal and external engineers. You will be reporting to Engineering Manager of Plant Engineering Division, which is part of Asset Management and Generation Strategy department of the Generation Organization.

- Support emergent equipment and process issues related to all Eastern Operations Stations’ assets
- Ensure proper inspection of facilities as required by vendor (OEM) recommendations, best industry practices, permit, regulation, or policy
- Coordinate with project teams on major projects and the Operations team for regular work.
- Apply engineering and knowledge of utility best practices for analyzing and evaluating operations and maintenance practices to continuously improve plant performance
- Help the Utility make risk informed decisions pertaining to regular and capital investments
- Support preparation of capital and operating work plans for the annual and long term planning horizons
- Support the maintenance optimization effort for the Eastern Operations Plants
- Present findings and solutions to senior leadership team
- Support condition-based monitoring plans and actions
- Support the corrective action program and the associated evaluations
- Lead test execution and analysis of test data
- Work with plant operation and maintenance leads in developing, allocating, validating, tracing, verifying, and documenting activities
The essentials
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering
- Engineering experience
- Valid CA Driver's License
The preferred
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) License
- Experience in development, verification, and validation of electrical equipment for power production (preferably on commercial applications)
- 2 or more years working in progressing responsible Plant Engineering positions
- Experience in preparing/justification of capital projects
- Experience with plant systems, power generation technical and certification requirements
- Experience with engineering tools for troubleshooting plant operation issues

- The primary work location for this position is Redlands, CA
- This position’s work mode is on-site
- This position will require approximately 20% traveling (vehicle travel) and occasional overnight stays
- Able to drive, fly, traverse on uneven surfaces (hiking), sit/stand and work in various weather conditions, for extended periods of time
- This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position - Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation. Once hired, the candidate must complete specified training prior to gaining un-escorted access to assigned work location and performing necessary job duties.
