Summary:
Our award-winning client is seeking a Plant Controller to join their team. Oversee the financial operations of the Lansing Plant, supervise key accounting and purchasing roles, and manage comprehensive financial reporting, control adherence, budgeting, and forecasting, as well as payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable functions.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee financial functions, including cost and general accounting, product costing, and capacity planning, as well as time studies.
- Conduct in-depth analysis of operational costs and variances, covering Sales/Volume, Direct and Indirect Labor, depreciation, Salary, Variable Overhead, Fixed Overhead, and other costs.
- Manage and enhance various accounting and finance systems.
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation of special studies and projects.
- Supervise and support accounting staff, including performance reviews and development plans.
- Manage the payroll system and review/approve payroll for both hourly and salaried teammates.
- Participate as a key member of the Site Leadership Team, contributing to planning, budgeting, and implementation of company requirements.
- Facilitate lean manufacturing and continuous improvement activities, such as 5S, workplace inspection, GEMBA boardwalks, Kaizen, and Kamishibai audits/systems.
- Perform daily reviews of shift notes and prepare the JPH report, including other measurables.
- Provide regular updates to the Plant Manager on finance-related matters.
- Collaborate with all Managers within the Plant on issues about interactions between Finance and other disciplines.
- Lead the yearly budget preparation, review, presentation, approval, and adherence processes.
- Ensure monthly and yearly completion of financials, including Flash Forecast, Flash Actual, SRP, Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow, Intercompany reconciliation, and Asset/Depreciation reconciliation.
- Prepare 1st and 2nd Close SRPs at year-end and midyear with reconciliation.
- Support the Yearly Audit Binder and Additional Disclosure file preparation, responding to Auditor questions/requests.
- Update the Insurance file yearly.
- Interact with customers on issues such as Accounts Receivable, Pricing, and purchase orders.
- Review banking for unusual items, chargebacks, etc.
- Approve all Accounts Payable vouchers, check runs, invoices, and expenses.
- Run JPH Efficiency/Inefficiency report daily.
- Perform monthly reconciliations, including sales, balance sheets, and Human Resources Stats reports for costs.
- Update the Sales report monthly for the new month.
- Update the "best-in-class" system for Materials, Production, Engineering, Finance, and the company's Production System.
- Assist with Cost Models and review Financials commercially.
- Analyze pricing scenarios related to volume, shift, Engineering Work Orders, etc.
- Facilitate the write-off or cleanup of Accounts Receivable accounts, assisting the Accountant.
- Prepare Appropriation Requests for Capital/Tooling/Engineering Work Orders requirements, obtaining required approvals through DocuSign.
- Fulfill other requirements as assigned by the Plant Manager, Director of Finance, Commercial, and Director of Manufacturing.
Required Qualifications:
- Demonstrated expertise in financial analysis, encompassing cost, general accounting, manufacturing accounting systems, standard cost accounting, auditing, and budgeting.
- In-depth knowledge of budgeted/costing/actual headcount and related costs.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting, preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
